• As a Property Book Officer (PBO), your primary role involves overseeing Property Accountability. In this capacity, you are responsible for meticulously maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all equipment, supplies, and property owned by the unit. It is crucial to emphasize the significance of property accountability, as it ensures that all items are effectively tracked, managed, and safeguarded throughout their lifecycle.

•Issue property to authorized personnel within the unit and explain the procedures and requirements for requesting and receiving property items, along with any documentation needed for accountability purposes

• Turn in equipment or property to the PBO when it is no longer needed or has reached the end of its serviceable life. You will need to explain the turn-in process, including conducting necessary inspections and completing the required paperwork to ensure the items are in the appropriate condition.

• Conduct regular inventories and inspections of property to maintain accurate records and identify any discrepancies or losses. Explain the requirements for conducting inventories and inspections, as well as outline the consequences of not adhering to these procedures.

• Notify the PBO promptly in case of lost, damaged, or stolen property. Explain the reporting process and the steps that will be taken to investigate and resolve the situation.

• Maintenance and Repairs: The Supply Sergeant may coordinate maintenance and repairs for equipment within the unit. This involves liaising with maintenance personnel or external support to ensure that equipment is operational and ready for use.
