Personal Security Detail (PSD), Law Enforcement Professional and Subject Matter Expert

• Recognized as a SME in Firearms, Driving and Defensive Tactics by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC); Assisted in rewriting Basic Recruit Curriculum for Law Enforcement and Corrections Officers.

• Served as a Team Member, Squad Leader, and Grenadier of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team for 14 years, providing Search and Rescue operations, answering calls to Civil Disturbances, providing Riot Control, Evidence Collection and Preservation, Active Shooter Response, and direct support for the SWAT team; Other specialized training on the Emergency Response Team included HELO Operations / Tactical Insertions, Marine Patrol Operations / Tactical Insertions, and Open Water Rescue.

• Served as Executive Driver for Bruce Springsteen and his family while he was in town performing for the Super Bowl XLIII. • Conducted residential security for several different executives including Ken Dart, President and CEO of Dart Container Corporation, ensuring principal’s own security completed their missions, provided perimeter checks, and protected the whole family 24/7, resulting in no incidents and 100% security maintained.

• Served as a K-9 handler, handling dual-purpose working dogs, assisting Secret Service Advance Team with security at Emma E. Booker Elementary School for POTUS on Sept 11, 2001 resulting in 100% security maintained.

• Awarded the Combat Cross for stopping a suspect who had already attacked and injured a Sheriff’s Deputy and was prepared to cause injury to others.

• Served on Patrol Units, responding to family disturbance calls; Dealt with a suicidal individual holding his mother hostage; successfully distracted and disarmed the subject, allowing the victim to escape; Also resulted in zero injuries to everyone involved in the incident. Awarded Life Saving Award for results.

• Helped an unresponsive individual, just out of prison, by performing CPR until EMS arrived; Subject was transported to hospital, making a full recovery; Awarded Life Saving Award for results.

• Provided checkpoint security during Hurricane Andrew as a Law Enforcement Deputy and a Soldier with the Florida National Guard; Managed areas hit by the devastation and looting, resulting in making numerous arrests; Promoted to Sergeant (National Guard) for results and recognized by Miami/Dade Police Chief; Acknowledged for efforts with a Humanitarian Award.

Instructor + Trainer

• Served as a full-time trainer for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (approx.7 years), ensuring high levels of training were maintained matching security trends and ensuring all training requirements were met for accreditation standards.

• Served as Lead Driving Instructor and Lead Defensive Tactics Instructor for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, certifying the Deputies, covering all necessary training including Firearms, First Aid, Baton, OC Spray, Taser and many general categories (De-Escalation Techniques, Domestic Violence, Crisis Intervention Techniques, PTSD); Successfully trained over 475 sworn Law Enforcement Deputies and approximately 300 Corrections Deputies totaling 90 hours of training per year for trainees which translated to 12 months out of the year of full time training + preparation for the trainers.

• Acknowledged by Officers, praising the training they received and for being able to return home to their families after officer-involved shootings; Awarded the prestigious Unit Citation Award; In the history of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, this award has only been awarded twice to the Training Unit; Member with Training Unit for both award receipts.

• Served as a Member of a Training Unit tasked with unexpected duties and training, managing a directive by the Governor ordering all schools have some type of armed security. Subsequently, the Training Unit developed new training, specific to the needs of these“ Guardians” who would be carrying concealed weapons in schools. Developed and executed a “mini academy” teaching Legal, Defensive Tactics, Firearms, Crisis Intervention, Active Shooter scenarios, and some other general classes. The main Headquarters of the Sheriff’s Office was relocating during this time, as was the Training Center while the new training was being developed and simultaneously trainers were conducting normal Training Cycles.
