Viking Technologies - Sarasota, Florida 2003 to November 2005 Senior Mechanical Engineer

Advanced research and development of piezoelectric based products. Primary tools included SolidWorks CAD and CosmosWorks finite element analysis software. Prior to fabrication and manufacture, designs were stringently tested for stress, deflection and performance using these tools. Worked intimately in the fabrication of components using mills and lathes. Four patent applications are in process from accomplishments at Viking.

Medical Education Technologies Inc. - Sarasota, Florida 2001 to 2003 Senior Engineer

Responsibilities included mechanical and electro mechanical component and system design. Focus was on the development of the Human Patient Simulator product line which simulates physiological conditions. Using advanced simulation techniques, this product is used to train medical and emergency care students in both the private and military sector. All electro mechanical systems were controlled by a PC104 microprocessor, which involved the coordination of electrical and software engineers.

Accomplishments in Sarasota

• Simulated lung system providing CO2 exchange and representative chest excursion

• Created mannequin convulsions for simulation of weapons of mass destruction

• Created “silent” pulse simulation

• Created mobile packaging for ease of transportation, set up, and ambulance loading simulation

• Created low cost and safe trauma and casualty simulator

Invensys Sensor Systems, (Electro Corporation) - Sarasota, Florida 1998 to 2001 Principal Engineer

Responsibilities included program management and mechanical design support for the new sensor technology being developed called “Spiral Position Sensing ”. This involved coordinating the efforts of a team of electrical engineers, ASIC design consultants, silicon foundry, lab technicians, and product managers. Mechanical design support involved the packaging development, and customer interface for proper application. Specific applications were developed with direct customer interface. Other responsibilities included designing and packaging of Hall Effect, and VR sensors for specific customer applications.

• Non contact rotary position sensing with low sensitivity to misalignment and air gap

• Non-contact linear position sensing with similar attributes.

• Protection of electronic printed circuit boards in direct overmolded packages. Hi-Stat Manufacturing - Sarasota, Florida 1996 to 1998 Senior Product Engineer

Responsibilities included support of existing product lines of Variable Reluctance sensors used for Anti-Skid Braking systems, concept generation, design, development, testing, of new sensor concepts and applications.

Automotive manufacturers would typically come to me for assistance in solving their problems. The solutions would result in the expansion of Walbro’s product line.
