Employer: Great Commission Air, Inc

Address: Ann Arbor, Michigan

Position: Application Designer, DBA, Developer

Non-profit Event/Auction Tracking System and Database: Designed and developed a database and application to collect and track registrations for non-profit events (Golf Outings and Auctions). This system was first developed with MS Access and provided a method to collect detailed information related to donated items for auction. The system was expanded to allow for the tracking of bids at auction and the recording of payment for said items. It also provided several accounting reports for close-out accounting activities. This system was later re-designed using a MySQL database that interfaced with a PHP application allowing entry similar functionality, but with a convenient web-based interface.

Completely designed and developed a collaborative ride-share system similar to what is now UBER. This system was called EcoTransit.com. Based on a PHP LAMP stack, this database centric application allowed users to enter their location and desired destination. The system would monitor registered vehicles (drivers) within an urban area and examine the riders in those vehicles to determine which vehicle had space for another passenger and if it was going to pass by the user's location and destination. It would then assign that user to the specified vehicle. The system heavily leveraged Google Maps API to find the most efficient routes for existing vehicles and user requests. It also used a MySQL database, PHP, AJAX, JavaScript.

Created version control and release procedures that incorporate the Polytron Version Control System.

Data Engineering and Logical Data Modeling Experience Summary:

Regarding my experience as a "Logical DBA"; My introduction to Oracle was at Ford Motor, where I worked with several different departments, including Industrial Engineering, Cost Accounting and Engine Diagnostics. In all of these positions, I was tasked with designing the Oracle database that would be used by applications that I also designed and wrote. The logical database design phase of these projects included extensive client interfacing to collect and document requirements and the business rules related to them. The databases I designed included consideration of data relationships (enforced by referential integrity constraints), business rules, sometimes enforced by primary key or restriction constraints, ranges and triggers, etc... I was always intimately involved in the development of access paths for data and query statements and the indexes required to efficiently support them. Producing normalized data models that efficiently and effectively translates a client's needs into a fully formed and functioning system is an extremely creative process and one that I really enjoy. I understand, and apply "Standard Normal Form", with regard to data (normalization) and have used modeling tools, such as Oracle SQL*Designer, to help model, document and implement database systems. I am proficient at generating entity relationship diagrams and data flow diagrams. My experience with database design and development spans over 15 years and includes an intimate knowledge of many commercial fields including: Finance, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Geographic Information Systems and more. I have extensive experience with Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL, PostGres, Python and much more.
