EDUCATION

MS Mechanical Engineering -- University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa

EXPERIENCE

2014—2019 VC Summer Nuclear Power Station, Jenkinsville, SC

PRA Engineer, Dominion Energy

For Unit 1; performed internal flooding analysis, human reliablity analysis using EPRI HRA Calculator, Baysian data updating including related CAFTA models review, lead responsibility in seismic PRA in reviewing Fragility and Hazard analysis notebooks performed by various consultants.

For AP1000 PWR reactor; reviewed various notebooks related to Internal Events Analysis and Seismic PRA performed by Westinghouse.

2015 E2 Enginering, Aiken, SC

Part Time Cosultant

Performed a Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) using SAPHIRE to assess the probability of failure or breach for sodium and lithium hydride shields disposed in the Mixed Waste Landfill Cell at the EnergySolutions Clive, Utah, Mixed Waste Facility.

2009-2014 DOE MOX Project, Savannah River Site, SC

Advisory Engineer, AREVA

As part of Accident Analysis, performed PRA using SAPHIRE to determine risk in terms of failure probability of Glove Boxes due to over pressurization and over temperature evnets and random equipment failures.

2008—2009 National Enrichment Facility, Eunice, NM

Integrated Safety Analysis Engineer

Major responsibility was in updating Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA) and ISA Summary including HAZOP and IROFS as a result of design changes to the facility to support licensing amendments and construction.

1998—2008 Bechtel/SAIC, Las Vegas, NV

Senior Engineering Specialist, DOE Yucca Mountain Repository Project

Performed fault tree analysis for safety equipment and systems using SAPHIRE. Performed event tree analysis using SAPHIRE in support of developing event sequence categorization. Responsible for internal and external flooding, extreme wind/tornado/tornado missile hazard analyses. Performed preclosure and postclosure criticality screening analyses using SAPHIRE. Contributed to the development of Configuration Generator Model for postclosure criticality analysis using SAPHIRE.

Responsible for the development of a database used in the reliability fault tree analysis for safety components. Responsible for developing probabilistic methodology on degraded criticality safety analysis internal and external to the waste package for codisposal of DOE owned spent nuclear fuel (SNF). Performed the internal and external criticality probabilistic analysis using the developed probabilistic methodologies for different DOE SNF types.

Developed generic degradation scenario and configuration guidelines to be applied to different DOE SNF types and performed degraded criticality safety analysis for different DOE SNF types using probabilistic approaches.

Also responsible, as a Lead Engineer, for coordinating all activities from different disciplines in analyzing a specific DOE SNF for codisposal and incorporating all the analyses results into a Technical Report for a specific DOE SNF type.

Performed review on various waste package HAZOP which served as the basis for developing the fault tree analysis.

1990 --1998 Baltimore Gas & Electric Company, Lusby, MD

Project Engineer, Reliability and Risk Assessment Unit

Contributed to the submittal of Calvert Cliffs Level 1 and IPEEE PRA to NRC by performing various system risk analysis using CAFTA and RISKMAN. Lead responsibility on the IPE internal flooding analysis, IPEEE seismic PRA and other external events analyses. These tasks included extensive plant walkdowns, identifying and resolving various high risk issues such as turbine missiles, loss of Control and Switchgear room HVAC due to high wind and tornado missiles, aircraft risk, etc. Performed initiating event and failure data analyses including initiating event grouping and frequency calculations using system fault trees and Bayesian updating.

1988 -- 1990 Toledo Edison Company, Toledo, OH

Supervisor, Reliability and Risk Assessment

Directed and performed various tasks related to IPE Level 1 PRA. Responsible for the completion of the initial draft of the Davis-Besse Level 1 PRA. Performed the internal flooding analysis, system fault tree analysis for the Instrument Air System using CAFTA.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

1998 – 2008 College of Southern Nevada, Las Vegas, NV

Adjunct Professor

Teaching different levels of college mathematics including college algebra, technical mathematics, trigonometry, precalculus, and probability and statistics.
