GENERAL DESCRIPTON:

Claims Administration Support (CSA) report to the Regional Manager. Performs routine administrative support work involves disseminating information, managing filing systems and performing office support work. The CAS is responsible for providing information to injured employees, employers, and other participants in the worker’s compensation process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Duties and Responsibilities)

Enters and updates data according to the Texas Department of Insurance, division of Worker’s Compensation Act and Rules and master Operating Manuel with no more that 3 exceptional per rating period, Accesses electronic mail daily. Accesses DWC web site daily.

Maintain supply of current forms and provides these forms and general information to visitors; forwards completed forms to proper staff person. Data enters information into mainframe computer systems.

Greats walk-in customers, identifies their needs, obtains from customer dates injuries and DWC number or social security numbers; notifies appropriate staff person on their arrival and inform customer with the name of staff person or section who will provide assistance; and assure the customer they will receive the assistance as quickly as possible.

Prepares and generate various claims and proceedings, correspondence to claim parties.

Provides general information to customer and refers claims-specific inquires to appropriate division staff and makes referral to other agencies when necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned; and requires travel for training & development.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS, and Abilities:

Skills include: Personal computer Microsoft word, Microsoft Excell, AS400, Calculators, Novel Groupwise, Xerox Copier, Faxing, Scanning.

Data entering forms into a database;

Decision making, planning and problem solving;

Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing;

Using automated office equipment; and providing customer service.
