I started my nursing career as a CNA (obtained through the American Red Cross) and worked at a facility providing care to patients with Dementia and Alzheimer's disease. A year later, I decided to attend a Licensed Vocational Nurse program (at American Career College), passed the board exam, and got licensed by BVNPT in California. I worked in Home Healthcare providing nursing care to pediatric patients with genetic abnormalities. Such nursing duties involved, taking vital signs, seizure monitoring and intervention, monitoring and maintaining skin integrity, G-tube site care, administration of medications orally or via G-tube, ADLs, accompanying patient to therapies (Occupational, Physical, and Speech), and doctor's appointments. Being present at therapies, I learned how to work with interdisciplinary teams to implement activities, (within my scope of practice) to reinforce what the patient has been taught, and there was very remarkable progress. As a result, strong relationships were built between patients, their families, and me.
I am currently a dedicated Charge Licensed Practical Nurse offering one-year background in a skilled nursing facility providing nursing care to patients especially Geriatric patients with various health conditions and behavioral problems, managing nursing staff, delegating assignments and assessing patient conditions, administering medications via G-tube, orally, injections, accue checks, vital signs monitoring, progress monitoring, plan implementation, history taking, electronic documentation, skin integrity, and wound care under the supervision of Treatment Nurse and the doctor, working with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective proper care of the patients. I am very detail-oriented and devoted to service excellence in patient care and patient advocacy. I am looking forward to advancing my career to become a Registered Nurse.
