I have almost completed my course work for my associate degree. I do have all the criteria required to become a CRSS which I am currently working with DORS to complete.
Communication
During my time off while I raised my family, I stayed very active within the community, I volunteered weekly in my daughters classroom and when she became to “old” I volunteered in the music room and coordinated a walk-a-thon. I also was the president of her PTO for a year. This has proven that I am able to communicate with people of every age and level of education, wealth, and appearance. Everyone is the same on the inside. I have just learned how to listen. I also gave presentations to local businesses on behalf of senior services on behalf of the United Way in looking for donations. I am well-spoken and easy to get along with. I value others which I believe helps communication.
Leadership
While working at Senior Services for over ten years until I took a break while having my daughter, I was the lead worker as McHenry County’s information and assistance specialist through the IDOA This position allowed me to attend public events with state representatives to answer questions on topics that mattered to the people in regards to senior services and needs. I also became one of a few people responsible to sign off on nursing home placement in Illinois for McHenry and Kane Co. I took this responsibility very seriously and am very proud of those I was able to advocate for.
