Population Genetics Research – SWFSC 2019-Present
Investigating population structure in the Pacific Sardine by use of mitochondrial phylogeographic studies, historical literature review, and low-coverage whole genome sequencing. Providing sampling and laboratory work for said projects, and co-authorship on pending articles.
Contractor with Ocean Associates Inc. – Genetics Lab Support 2020-2022
Worked at the NOAA Fisheries Southwest Fisheries Science Center, La Jolla, California. Conducted DNA extractions, DNA amplifications, performed sequencing, and analyzed data. Assisted in sample preservation and subsampling efforts.
USD National Ocean Sciences Bowl Mentor 2021-2022
Coached a class of high school students in various marine biology and oceanographic topics in preparation for the NOSB competition.
Graduate Assistant - USD 2019-Present
Conducted laboratory maintenance, organization and set up for teaching labs, directed tank maintenance, and managed data entry and analysis.

UCEAP Marine Biology and Terrestrial Ecology Field Quarter 2017
Studied experiment design and field techniques through the University of Queensland. Focused on Australian terrestrial natural history, and reef ecology.
San Vicente Redwood Restoration 2016
Identified and removed invasive species in the San Vicente Redwoods, and replanted areas with native species. In participation with the Sempervirens Fund.

Small Craft Use and Safety 2020
Trained in operation of various small motor crafts, including navigation, fueling and docking, and ocean safety for the purposes of research through USD, and completed California Skippers license course.
AAUS Scientific Dive Certification 2017
SCUBA certified in underwater sampling techniques including open water, deep water, and transect work, studied species identification in Monterey Bay, and navigation. Qualified under the auspices of UCSC
SCUBA Rescue Diver Certification 2016
Completed rescue course with certifications in CPR, AED, surf rescue, open water rescue, risk prevention and safe dive planning, and trauma and injury identification.

Scripps Geopaths 2019
Student Leader aboard R/V Sproul for two legs off the coast of San Diego. Directed multicore sampling, Ekman Grab launch and recovery, and CTD monitoring.
NOAA Summer CPS – Leg 3 2021
Science complement aboard NOAA RV Reuben Lasker surveying coastal pelagic species. Took genetic samples, meristic and morphometric data, and extracted otoliths. Performed trawl duties including marine mammal watch, CTD measurements, and data entry
