Software testing Operator for the IBM 1500 CAI system. Worked with the Coursewriters and tested new software for distribution to the field sites.

Stanford University 1968-69

Worked for the Institute of Mathematics supporting the programming Staff at the First field install of the IBM 1500 CAI system in a public School. Brentwood Elementary in East Palo Alto. Students learning rates were 100 to 400 % faster in English and Math using the 1500 CAI system verses traditional teaching methods. Worked for ACME, Advanced Computer for Medical Research at Stanford Hospital supporting research in Heart Transplants pioneered by Dr. Norman Shumway. Equipment was an IBM 360/50 and an IBM 1800 Process Control Computer. The 1800 was networked with the VA Hospital where Dr. Shumway performed Surgery on dogs. The Dogs were on 24 hour tracking for their condition after surgery. Optimum Systems Inc. 1969-70

Third Shift supervisor for a large commercial service bureau. Management of processing for clients using an IBM 360/50 and an IBM 360/65. Clients included The US Sixth Army for inventory control of material in and Out of Vietnam and the draft reports for the Dallas cowboys, San Francisco Forty Niners, Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints. Reports were used by the teams for the annual NFL draft. Memorex Corporation 1970-81

Started as a computer operator for 1 year. Transferred into financial applications programming supporting the Fixed Assets systems and leased equipment billing systems. Systems were written in both Cobol and PL1. After 1 year transferred into systems programming group to help support and modify as needed the IBM MVT operating system used on the Corporate IBM 370/155 computer. Extensive experience in modifying the HASP Job entry system running under MVT. All work was in assembly language. After 2 years transferred from the ISD (Information Systems) to the ECL (Engineering Computer Lab) as the senior Systems Programmer supporting an IBM 370/145 and an IBM 370/148. Systems were running VM/370 with VS1 under VM. Supported the design engineers developing hardware and microcode for Memorex Disk Drives and Telecommunication controllers. After 5 years transferred to a new quality assurance group developing microcode and testing software for Memorex disk drives for final systems testing before shipping. Also developed a way to track failing components so that these components were not used in subsequent HDA builds. Faulty components were a major problem in achieving production target numbers.

Critical Path Solutions Inc. 1981-1993

Founder and Senior Programmer. Was a General consultant on all things involving Computers and programming. Also established a small service bureau specializing in personalized laser printing of large volumes of letters and direct mail pieces for both commercial and political clients.

Consulting projects included:

Writing the order entry system for Intel that networked all their European hubs, London, Brussels, Paris and Munich. Spent 3 months in Brussels writing and testing the new system which was written in COBOL using CICS. Bench tested the feeder systems to the CDC Cyber 205 supper computer used at the Goddard Space flight Center in Green Belt Maryland. The feeder systems consisted of 7 Amdahl 7 computers collecting weather information. All this information was sent to the Cyber which would process it to determine good windows for launch of any shuttle mission. Managed the conversion of 250 programs written for IBM computers to run on Burroughs computers. This was for Rogers Brothers Food Company in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the largest supplier of frozen French Frys for Mcdonalds. All programs were written in PL/1 and converted to Cobol. Wrote a successful computer usage and billing/chargeback system for sites using VM/ESA as their operating system on the computer. 132 client sites acquired the system.

Developed a travel tracking and reporting system for a business based travel agency whose largest client was Lockheed Missiles and Space. Attached a passive floppy disk drive in line with the reservation printer. Wrote software to analyze the print output collected and produce usage and totals by individual for tracking and billing. Many other projects across a variety of clients including Intel, Apple, National Semiconductor, Memorex, City of Fremont, Santa Clara County, NCA INC, Fairchild Semiconductor, Matson Freight Lines, Solo Systems. Computerized Political Services Inc. - 1993-2020

Founder and Senior Programmer. Company supports Political Campaigns by providing products and services required for the running of a campaign on a day to day basis. Software was written in PL1 on the IBM Mainframes for the first 10 years but was rewritten in Micro Focus Vision Cobol and now runs on a PC. The PC based software is both easier and faster than the mainframe versions. Have used the software to run campaigns from City Council all the way up to President. Individual projects – 2021-2023

Having ceased all business operations I assisted friends in politics with their data processing needs. I built Statewide data bases for California, Illinois and Colorado for various campaigns and voter outreach. The data Bases comprised 35 million voter records cross referenced with 35000 jurisdictions. Data was used for mail, Phone campaigns, email blasts and strategy. Summary:
