Summary:

I have been a registered nurse since ***7, I have vast clinical and managerial experience in Medical-Surgical, O.B/Gyn, Orthopedics, Same-Day /Ambulatory Care Surgery Operating Room Care and Pre-Operative Care of patients. I am IV certified ACLS certified, BLS certified and currently have an active N.J. license. I have my BSN and currently in the process of perusing a master’s degrees.in Nursing Administration.

Experience:

2017-Present: Hoboken University Medical Center

Peri-operative Nurse Manager covering daily operations of SDS, PAT, PACU and endoscopy also provide coverage for OR manager when needed. Responsibilities include working with physicians and their offices to expedite the receiving of all needed lab work and clearances for surgery, Maintain communication with OR re: patients’ arrival to SDS. Trouble shooting any issues with staff members, ensure that there is adequate staffing available in each unit. Work with nursing education to provide cross training for nursing personnel. Work with nursing staff to encourage them to maintain open communication with family members and patients regarding delays and providing updates while patents are in the OR. Maintain open communication with Physicians. Responsible for payroll of all four departments, hiring of new staff, in-services on new equipment as needed.

2015-2017: Surgi-Care of Wayne

Nurse Manager running the daily operations of Ambulatory Care Center. Responsibilities included speaking to physicians seeking credentialing in the center to encourage them to bring their cases to the center. Arranged to work with the imaging center in the building to bring needle localization cases and axillary node dissections to the center., which brought more revenue into the center and increased the number of cases done, working out block times for physicians to ensure they had the time they needed to fit their schedules. Scheduling cases with central scheduling to ensure any block time not being utilized was offered to those physicians seeking more time. Obtaining supplies and equipment needed to do cases. Working with vendors to obtain necessary supplies at a reduced cost to the center or possibly buy items needed by the unit rather than by the box to avoid supplies expiring on the shelf. Trouble-shooting equipment. Conflict resolution /mediation with staff members. Staffing the center to ensure there was minimal turnover time, expediting the flow of the OR schedule. When needed scrubbed, circulated admitted or recovered patients. Acted as a physician/patient liaison, updated family members waiting as needed. Worked with ancillary personnel in hiring of new staff, materials management for needed supplies, payroll. Monitored payroll of staff, keeping overtime to a minimum. Arranged for in servicing of staff on new procedures and new equipment.

2013-2015 St. Barnabas Women’s Surgical Center

Nurse Manager in an Ambulatory Surgical setting. Responsibilities include scheduling staff, problem solving, expediting pre-op admission, O.R. and PACU, monitoring staffing. Monthly and weekly scheduling of staff. Monitored budget of the center for productivity, Doctor/patient relations, working with ancillary department for new hires, conflict/resolution mediation with staff

2001-2013: Mountainside Hospital

Staff nurse in Maternal Child Services at Mountainside Hospital, which includes care of women before, during and after delivery of their newborn infants along with care of the neonate during their hospital stay in both well baby and NICU Patient teaching regarding expectations of labor process, C-Section post delivery and care of newborn including helping with breast feeding, scrubbing and circulating on C-Sections Drawing lab work, staring IV fluids reporting any abnormal lab values to physicians

1999-2001: Roseland Surgical Center

Primary role was to circulate and scrub on various same day procedures. Serve as a preceptor for newly hired nurses and scrub technicians. Call patients pre-operatively to obtain medical history and answer questions patients may have about their procedure, Patient teaching about post operative expectations, what to look for regarding potential signs of infection, follow-up care with physician.

1987-1999: Mountainside Hospital

Staff Nurse at Mountainside Hospital served as a primary nurse in a 7- room O.R. with 1-minor room and 1- cystoscopy room preforming as either circulating or scrub nurse. Assess patients in the pre-op area before bring them into the O.R. checking consents and lab values reporting any abnormal values to physicians caring for patient. Work with Anesthesia assisting with insertion of spinals, epidurals and general anesthesia including intubation insertion of LMA or removal of ET- tube. Charge nurse when needed rearranging schedule to expedite cases and give O.R. times for those case which urgent in nature. Act as a preceptor for new nurses and technicians. Provide EKG monitoring O2 Sat monitoring and IV sedation for patients during procedures under physician direction.

1987-1999: Mountainside Hospital Med-surg

Worked as a staff nurse and assumed permanent charge on night shift delegating to CNAS and other ancillary staff. On day shift assisted nurse manager by taking charge duties over in her absence which included supervising ancillary and professional staff, troubleshooting problems where needed. Working with multi-disciplinary teams including Social Services, Utilization Review, and Discharge Planning. Worked with family members in regard to getting their family members home or to a rehabilitation facility. Admit and discharge patients to the floor creating individualized care plans for patients in my care. In-service staff patients and family members on use of equipment needed for patient recovery such as CPM machines, Traction, ABD splints, cast care and pin care

Chamberlain College of Nursing online completed BSN May 2018. Currently in process of obtaining master’s in nursing administration form Chamberlain College of Nursing.

Graduated from Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing in 1987, obtained diploma and took NCLEX exam for licensure
