This included as stated above, and in addition to being a staff nurse, distributing medication and treatments, I was charge Nurse 2-3 days weekly within the hospital which included initiating paperwork with various hospitals and physicians for admission and discharges. I was responsible for the schedules of both the CNA and CMA, and over sought their duties. Assisted patients with healing and recovery post surgery; provided necessary health education training; was patient advocate and implemented patient care through a team nursing process covering 8-10 high acuity patients per 12 hour shift; provided IV therapy, venipuncture and wound care. This included suture removal, initial bandage changes, monitored post-op vitals, set up PCA pump, fluids, review orders, and oriented patients to the unit; ensured proper care of body mechanics and safety; developed care plan together with physician and RNs to ensure overall well being. I was often commended for maintaining safety, respect and dignity of patients.
