Visually examines equipment for overall appearance, security of all connections and wiring, and damage to circuitry. Makes preliminary determinations on whether equipment is economically repairable. Connects major components to specialized test equipment then troubleshoots to isolate the cause of the malfunction and makes repairs. Conducts operational test of repaired equipment to ensure equipment passes diagnostic test without error and completes data sheets for inspections. Follows provided technical documentation such as manufacturer specifications, schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to complete assignments.

• Tests, repairs, troubleshoots, upgrades APX-118, APX-123, and APX-123A transponders.

• Tests, operates, replaces batteries and reloads key in KIV-77 cryptographic item.

• Proficient in using TS-4530A (test set) to perform job duties; proficient on test equipment – multimeter, oscilloscopes.

• Proficient in confirming OFP (Operational Flight Program) and loading / reloading when needed.

• Does quality work at higher grade levels, i.e., compliant WG-8, WG-10 work as a WG-5.

• Quick turnaround time on transponders needing cryptokey to return to units as rapidly as possible.

• Works well with others.

• When used in a borrow/loan situation, learns new position quickly.

• Qualified to do tasks as an expediter.

• Installs batteries into transponders.

• Well-qualified to take transponders through Quality Inspections from start to finish.

• Processes necessary transponder information into TAMMS-A, asset tracking TMDE, SHC, EXCEL, IUID databases.

• Confirms correct SHC (screw head coating) is present and applies SHC when needed.

• Helps train Army units on transponders to given them better understanding of items they use and work with.

• Sustains a 6S/LEAN work environment.

• Communicates well with leaders and supervision to relay necessary information to assure quality work is completed in a timely manner.

• Certified in J-STD-001 and 7711 soldering.

• Accesses necessary items from tool crib and pharmacy to perform job duties.

• Assists coworkers with their production to ensure shop is successful as a whole.

• Offers help to coworkers outside of the workplace, i.e., rides to and from work.

• Recycles HAZMAT – lead and batteries.
