I have chosen this field as I have extensive experience in nursing generally and seven years plus as a charge nurse in an acute care adolescents and adult psychiatric unit. Assess the health/mental status of the patients, ranging from teenagers 4 years old to 17 years old, adolescents and older adults upon admission and/or transfer on an ongoing basis; documenting assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluation in patient record to determine priorities and plan therapeutic nursing care.

Developing individualized health care plans for patients with mental health needs. Serves as an effective member of the treatment team, implementing the basic nursing care plan, promote, and maintain the therapeutic milieu to assist patient in meeting individual goals.

Performs therapeutic nursing interventions as established by individualized plan of care for mental health patients, Document client’s assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing interventions as regards to psychotropic medications, symptoms, side effects and progress towards resolution.
