I am 19 years old and currently majoring in Computer Engineering Tech at Gateway Community College in New Haven. But after 2 years will transfer from Gateway to Central Connecticut State University to further my education in Computer Engineering. I am looking for a job that can hopefully fit around my school schedule as I do have classes Monday - Thursday, but have a little more freedom on Monday and Wednesday because i get out of my last class @3:15. At Fedex Ground I started with taking boxes out of a truck bed and putting them onto a belt so they can get sorted on the load side. Then they started having me scan items and put labels on them before they get sent up the IC belt which is basically a different belt for things that can’t get sent up on the belt connected to trucks because they are either too heavy, too long, or objects that are fragile. At Flash Car Wash I would stand outside by an XPT or stand in the tunnel to guide cars in between the guards and push buttons on a monitor if they had something like a tow hook or roof rack so it doesn’t damage the machines or damage their vehicle. But I’d mostly stand outside trying to sell washes and memberships outside to customers that would come to the XPT’s. At B&B Threaded I would grab an order that would be scheduled to be picked up soon by Fedex or UPS and get screws or washers from around the warehouse. I would use a scale so I can get the exact number and weight of the items the order had, bag them up and put them in a box with the label so they can get shipped to the buyer.

At American Steakhouse we would have more than just 1 dishwasher but 1 of the dishwashers would do more than just dish wash if it got busy in the store you would stop what your doing and make fish platters, make salads, restock items that needed to be restocked, whether that be drinks or food. And you would go upfront to go serve drinks or even work the fryer. But everything would be fast paced which was good me personally as a first job.
