PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Software Engineer, Tech Lead

Fiserv, Phoenix, Arizona 2003 to Present

Led a team of ten and designed all aspects of the document preparation system, using SOAP Web Services and Microsoft ASP.Net/VB.Net. This common/reusable document system saved three separate systems from developing their own document systems. Document mapping could now be done centrally, saving duplication of effort for every Credit Union.

Developed an advanced web lending platform to support Credit Union Lending using ASP.Net/VB.Net. Integrated this lending platform with supporting back-end web services that were previously separate systems. Supported nine Credit Union cores integration to Lending system, saving them development and maintenance by replacing their lending sub-system.

Participated in the analysis, design, and development of a second-generation Credit Union lending system using ASP/VB.Net. This replaced a client-server Credit Union lending system that had to be installed and maintained at each Credit Union site. This cut maintenance by removing the need to maintain each credit union's installation of previous lending system.

Advanced Systems Engineer

Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Phoenix, Arizona 1993 to 2003

Developed client-server Windows lending platform to support Credit Union Lending using VB 6 and Microsoft SQL Server. Engineered database-driven, user-controlled UI design/data store allowing end-users to add new fields and control where they were placed in the UI. Replaced the DOS lending system, modernizing the UI/client experience.

Replaced homegrown data warehouse application by developing a new data warehousing system (Exec II) under direction in ALC and integrating third-party tool. This allowed clients to write their own queries and retire an existing legacy system.

Systems Engineer (1985 to 1993)

Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Warren, Michigan 1985 to 1993

•Employed Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) using Microfocus PC/Cobol II to create a parts breakdown scheduling system for General Motors. This allowed the client to use Kanban principles and pull only the parts when they were needed to, reducing parts inventory and storage costs.

• Maintained and enhanced logistics freight bill audit system in PL/1 and VSAM, saving General Motors freight overcharges.

Career highlights:

Garnered reputation as subject matter expert (SME) in resolving computer programming issues encountered in producing PDF documents and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).

Mentored new hires and existing employees, providing training and best practices on systems and project tasks.
