Kids Northwest is a company that focuses on in-home care servicing members of the IDD community working with Children and adults. As a DSP I worked in the home setting with children. I worked with high behavioral kids. During this time I learned how to watch different kinds of people's body language and face to try and figure out how to best support them. I have been a part of integrating the people I support into the community. Working with children I have gained more patients. And have learned new ways of problem solving. September 2022-June 2022
Chamberlin houses inc.- DSP
Chamberlin is an adult foster home program. While working there I worked in two different houses for them. I supported some high behavior individuals as well as high medical and independent individuals. While supporting the residents I supported. I had to follow support plans for each resident I supported. When supporting different individuals it is very important that you know their plan and protocol so you can be a better support to them. I had medication windows times to follow. If there was a diet restriction you need to follow. I learned how to improve my documentation skills. I had to document residents ' process in their day to day. I had to document incident reports as needed as they occurred. I assisted individuals with ADL’s. January 2022- September 2022
Premier Community Supports -DSP
As a DSP for premier I worked in a home setting. I supported high behavioral teens. I had support and behavior plans to follow. I learned how to advocate for the members I supported. Being a more independent DSP doing in home care I learned how to use different kinds of resources. The family I supported needed a lot of assistance in what to do as far as resources for their child and creating plans and protocols. I was able to find resources that help needy families. Finding food boxes, clothing places. I assisted in finding proper programs for the individual I supported to increase her quality of life and build new skills and relationships.
