Kids Northwest LLC - DSP

Kids Northwest is a company that focuses on in-home care servicing members of the IDD community working with Children and adults. As a DSP I worked in the home setting with children. I worked with high behavioral kids. During this time I learned how to watch different kinds of people's body language and face to try and figure out how to best support them. I have been a part of integrating the people I support into the community. Working with children I have gained more patients. And have learned new ways of problem solving. September 2022-June 2022

Chamberlin houses inc.- DSP

Chamberlin is an adult foster home program. While working there I worked in two different houses for them. I supported some high behavior individuals as well as high medical and independent individuals. While supporting the residents I supported. I had to follow support plans for each resident I supported. When supporting different individuals it is very important that you know their plan and protocol so you can be a better support to them. I had medication windows times to follow. If there was a diet restriction you need to follow. I learned how to improve my documentation skills. I had to document residents ' process in their day to day. I had to document incident reports as needed as they occurred. I assisted individuals with ADL’s. January 2022- September 2022

Premier Community Supports -DSP

As a DSP for premier I worked in a home setting. I supported high behavioral teens. I had support and behavior plans to follow. I learned how to advocate for the members I supported. Being a more independent DSP doing in home care I learned how to use different kinds of resources. The family I supported needed a lot of assistance in what to do as far as resources for their child and creating plans and protocols. I was able to find resources that help needy families. Finding food boxes, clothing places. I assisted in finding proper programs for the individual I supported to increase her quality of life and build new skills and relationships. June 2021-January 2022

Douglas Resident Training Facility-DSP

While employed at DRTF I worked at a high crisis behavioral house. While I was there I got to be a part of helping residents cope with behaviors. I followed behavior plans and support plans. I continued to strengthen my documentation skills. Having to document daily process notes. Writing incident reports when needed. I worked with doctors and behavior specialists to better support residents through their behaviors.

August 2016-March 2019

Edwards Enterprises- Employment specialist Manager Working in a sheltered workshop for the IDD community. We had very different line work the clients would work on. I kept track of client time cards and how much work they completed. When clients were done with their work I would check the work for quality. I assisted clients in building new skills. I got to be a part of job development and integrating clients into the community working in the community.
