Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:

Serves as an Industrial Worker and as such may be required to perform a variety of ammunition operations and/or chemical/biological defense duties. Performs a variety of assignments in connection with the production, rebuilding or demilitarization of a variety of chemical munitions including smoke canisters, grenades, projectiles, bombs, cartridges and mortars, many of which require the exercise of considerable caution in view of the hazards involved and many of which require a considerable amount of physical exertion. Incumbent is frequently required to change from one work assignment to another due to the nature of the production program at the Arsenal. Removes shells and burster casings from packing boxes, places munitions on assembly lines, manually move munitions from one production phase to another on the line. Lifts and places shells in wooden pallets; for pick bit packs in prescribed manner. Clean and removes rust, paint, grease, dirt, corrosion, etc., from casings, projectile, threads or other parts by, buffing, and/or using solvents, cloths and brushes. Supplies mix batches, munition bodies, burster casing and other supplies to assembly workers on the line. Assemble primers, tracers, fuzes and propellant bags to munition. Assists in the demilitarization ammunition by extracting the munitions from their containers and placing them on the line operating various manual devices on the line and sorting the different metals for salvage. Under closer supervision, receives on-the-job training in the operation of production line machine and equipment such as hydraulic press, reaming machines, aspirators, sealers, hoist, stencil machines, strapping machines, nailing machines, crimping machines, scales, torquing tools and taping machines. Observe all safety rules and regulations during operations of equipment. Performs cleaning and sanitizing operations on a variety of protective masks and components thereof. Visually observes masks and components to determine condition and segregates accordingly. Replaces defective components as required. Packages finished products. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Performs these operations utilizing immersion tanks, drying ovens, racks, overhead hoists, etc. Prepares heated cleaning and sanitizing solutions to specified concentrations. Cleaning and sanitizing operations are performed IAW standing operating procedures.

Visual Observation: Observes protective masks and components for defects and segregates according to condition. Visual observation is performed IAW standing operating procedures. Replaces Defective Components: Performs these operations utilizing various equipment to include hand tools, power presses, and other devices used for specific applications. Component replacement is performed IAW standing operating procedures. Packages Finished Products: Performs these operations by placing protective masks and exterior components in carrier, packaging in individual and outer pack boxes, placing boxes on pallets, and strapping or wrapping pallets using hand operated or automated equipment. Packages components and other items as instructed. Packaging operations are performed IAW standing operating procedures.

Cleans in and around production buildings, cleans toilet facilities and keeps restrooms applied with paper towels, soap, and other supplies.
