I was a top collector at Ford Motor Credit for 20 years. I handled a que of over 300 charged off accounts. The majority of these accounts had already lost their collateral. I wound make calls and attempt to work with our customers on a payment plan to resolve the balance. I would send the required amounts of letters and phone calls making sure I made enough calls in the morning and evening as well as on weekends in attempt to resolve the balance with the customer and avoid having to forward the accounts out for further collections. If the accounts still had out collateral put and the customer was not responding to my calls and letters than I would actively try to locate the collateral and have it repossessed.
