Duties and responsibilities

• Coach, mentor, assist and monitor members fostering teamwork in carrying out pre-task risk assessments.

• Expertise in using a laptop to access engine system codes and diagnose electronically controlled fuel systems such as unit injectors and high pressure common rail.

• Reading schematics and troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic and electric circuits using pressure gauge and test meter.

• Radiator, water pump, head gasket replacement, and coolant changes.

• Deadline-oriented in removing and replacing major engine components such as, engine blocks, crankshafts, piston and rods, cylinder heads and other related components.

• Track performance of buses and trucks after carrying out a major component change.

• Complete preventative maintenance programs on engines, clear faults and enter technician notes.

• Competent at testing, adjusting pressure using pressure gauges, flow meter

• Operate equipment to test transmission faults such as slipping, vibrations or abnormal noise.

• Disassembling transmission to determine probable causes of failure such as internal leakages, seals, bearings, gears, assembling.

• Perform inspections of differentials, final drives oils for contamination, wear.

• Compile and document work orders, checklists, brake tests, reports and make recommendations.

• Experienced in all facets/phases of reading, interpreting hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic circuits.

• Trace machinery use to determine periodic services after every 250, 500, 1000, 1500 and 2000 hours.

• Follow established safety standard operating procedures to perform all maintenance tasks.

• Ensure the change of all oils, filters, clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on buses and trucks.

• Attending night shifts and standby duties.

• Accounted for breakdown route cause analysis, rectify then communicate it to the foreman.

• Refurbished an accident damaged RD32 tone dump.
