I truly believe my time spent with residents and their families, have impacted me as to how I need and want to be as a nurse and as an advocate for them. I see it as a honor and privelage to have given a part of myself to them and blessing it is to participate in their last moments. I can only pray that I did make an impact for each one. Working one on one regardless of services provided, age, or circumstance, is why I became a nurse. It's providing care to a person who is in need. It's not always a medical need. Mostly, it's providing a security in an environment where they open up and 'active listening' is an invaluable skill.
