Sr. Oracle Database Administrator

Helped in supporting some 100+ Oracle Databases running on Linux, HP-UX and Windows. From version’s 11g up to 19c. From single instance to 2-node Rac up to 3-node Rac. Evaluated Oracle Database Vault product on my own built Oracle VirtualBox Server/Database guest appliances. Security hardened the environment’s OEM12 and 13c Cloud Control repositories. Built a Database Schema Security framework for all Stateside DBA’s and Offshore DBA’s and rolled out to all deemed highly sensitive Databases. Helped build a HUB designed unidirectional Golden Gate framework for 18 County Databases. Helped in upgrading Open Text Data Protector MML software from version 9.0 to 11.0. Helped build a net-new OEM 13.5.0.16 Cloud Control Console and upgraded all OMA agents to same 13.5.0.16 version. Participated in on-call rotation.

Access and Identity Management Engineer

Helped support the on-premises Identity Management Framework Architecture (OAM) that currently handles close to 15 million Claimants. Control, monitor and manage access to our critical applications such as Unemployment Insurance Online, Disability Insurance, Paid Family Leave and Benefit Overpayment Information. Participated with the project’s setup/testing/go-live deployment of the ID.me Identity Proofing layer in attempts to help reduce unemployment fraud the EDD has been encountering since March 2020.

Project Lead Oracle Database Administrator

Helped in supporting close to 500 Oracle Databases ranging from version 11g up to version 18c running on the Exadata X-6 Database machine architecture. Participate in an on call rotation and shift duty to provide for 24/7 database support. Moved over to vetting all Oracle production and non-production CHG Control tickets created for our team within our Service Now application. This vetting process consisted of reviewing, approving, scheduling and often processing myself of these created changes. The process, on average, handled around 50 CHG’s per week. Created a process artifact and socialized to bring in a common structure/standardization for the process.

CTO Oracle Database Architect

Responsible for ensuring that all database best practices, industry standards and company adopted standards are followed by our outsourced vendors IBM and Cognizant. Research and provide a database technology roadmap for Oracle classic, Oracle MySql and Oracle Rdb Database Management Systems. Work as technical CTO SME with designing new database technologies/strategies on all database projects that utilized an Oracle RDBMS. Research, plan, build and implement a great deal of new version technology ideas (ISP/ASP/Matriculation/Projects) in efforts to provide overall system and database stability at the enterprise level. Sr. Production Oracle Database Administrator

Support 5 Oracle Production databases (versions 9.2.0.5.0 to 10.1.0.3.0) on HP Open VMS (version 7.3-2) ranging from 5.5 Terabytes (with 500+ tablespaces) to 4 Gig (with 12+ tablespaces). Support over 50+ Oracle Production databases (versions 8.1.7.4.0 up to 10.2.0.4.0) on UNIX and AIX platforms. Support the DEV, TST, STG, UAT versions of those production databases working with Applications Developers to ensure complete database change migration cycle. Installed and created an OLAP Oracle 10.1.0.3.0 Siebel database on HP Open VMS 7.3-2. Then I ported that OLAP database to Sun Solaris due to incompatibility issues found during testing. Perform yearly DITSCAP/DIACAP/SRR security scans and remediation with certifications enforced by the government on 9 highly visible government facing databases to maintain our State contract for those databases. Also apply the quarterly Oracle CPU’s against those government databases as well. Built and also upgraded several Oracle databases up to version 10.2.0.3.0. Built, with the direction of Applications development, and maintained the table partitioning strategy within our 5 terabyte data warehouse database – over 70+ table partitions. Developed Row Level Security (VPD) and showed proof of concept to the Applications Developers onto our Data warehouse DEV database. Have 9i/10g RAC experience with several HP Open VMS and UNIX housed databases. Exposure in the supporting of Oracle streams replication. Strong knowledge with UNIX Shell programming, VMS command procedures, and with SQLPLUS and PL*SQL. Maintain the lead role in all database storage needs as acting database storage rep for all VMS, UNIX and AIX housed databases on all environments. Helped deploy the intelligent agent onto all server VIPS so that each one could fail over successfully using its VIP upon error thus providing continuous heartbeat from the database to agent then to the OEM grid control. Proficient in Rman cloning/duplication to same server and to a remote server of databases. Proficient in database Restore and PITR, and partial recovery due to the size of the 4 terabyte data warehouse database. Created my own 9i desktop OEM Management Server, set up periodic collections using Expert and generated workload recommendations for tuning. Proficient using OEM SQL Analyzer by taking any long running, high cost, queries and running them through the Analyzer to get new index recommendations. Also use Quest SQL Analyzer to get several query re-write recommendations when analyzing any long running queries. Use of 10gR2 OEM grid control in the analysis and tuning of databases and queries against all 10gR2 databases. Proficient in using Statspack with Statspack Analyzer web site in assisting in tuning databases/queries. Ensure that all Rman backup/restore strategies remain within 100% compliance of our SLA created between our customers and the DBA team. Converted all “Cold” database backups to Oracle standard “Rman Hot” backups ensuring 24/7 uptime and availability for those databases. Attend Oracle World SF conference, for the past 6 years, in keeping up with the industry technologies and innovations. Participate in an on call rotation and shift duty to provide for 24/7 database support.

11/1999 – 03/2009 HealthNet, Inc. Rancho Cordova, CA

Sr. Production Oracle Rdb Database Administrator

Currently support on 25+ Production Oracle Rdb databases ranging from 800 Gig – with 550 Tables to 300 MB – with 30 tables. Also support 120+ UAT and Development Oracle Rdb databases. These databases run on a several multi-node Clusters of HP Alpha machines running Oracle Rdb V7.1-511 in the production, DSS, UAT and DEV environments. I also supported 10+ additional Oracle Rdb databases on a multi-node/multi-environment Cluster of HP Dec Vax machines that ran Oracle Rdb V6.02 which were decommissioned a few years back. Currently perform database analysis and tuning by using RMU/ANALYZE and RMU/SHOW STATISTICS commands. Have successfully performed collections with Oracle Rdb Trace and used those collections in Oracle Expert Rdb to create tuning recommendations. Performed several Rdb and SQL*SERVICE version upgrades across DEV, UAT, DSS and Production environments. Make database structural changes through Remedy Change Control procedures. Fine-tuned all RMU backups and RMU restores to tape using media management application Storage Library System. Participate in our annual Disaster Recovery exercise conducted offsite in New York. Senior Production Control Analyst

Streamlined a PC based application called Procomm Plus 2. Wrote all procedures and created a “procedure binder” for the department. Posted all of the procedures up into a Lotus Notes database. Set up a Microsoft Visual Basic 4.0 program to remind the department of when a Procomm procedure was to be executed. Created a Microsoft ACCESS 97 database for the FHS print room to track all items ordered and purchased. Assisted in the hardware migration of a Dec-Vax 6000 and Alpha 2100 to Foundation Health Systems (FNSRV Dec-Vax cluster). Created a Dec-Vax training presentation in Microsoft Windows PowerPoint 97. Conducted 2-three hour training sessions using the PowerPoint 97 presentation to all associates of the Production Control and Operations departments. Worked the majority of the time in a lead operator position handling swing, night and day shift responsibilities for approximately one year. Such responsibilities included: Conducted and supervised nightly lottery draws in the background presence of a California State lottery official.
