Responsible for contractor safety, Lockout/Tag out of equipment and following OSHA Standards
Responsible for purging for shut downs and start ups, changing tuyeres and blowpipes and maintaining the water cooling systems for tuyeres and copper water jackets for keeping furnace wall cool
Steamed out water cooling lines and checked for water going into furnace, making hydrogen gas and causing the uptake temps to climb
Member of safety team; trained in rescue and scott-air-pack usage
Ensured machinery was up-to-date; daily safety and daily maintenance upkeep
Attended daily salary meeting for follow ups on progress, safety, man-hours and turnovers for in-coming shifts
