• Ensuring that all works are carried out quickly and quietly and do not interfere or disturb clients and staff.

• Identifying and assist with the requisition of materials to ensure maintenance and repairs are carried out efficiently and to approved standards.

• Ensuring that a clean and tidy working environment is maintained at all time by controlling tools, materials and waste products

• Maintaining up to date knowledge for the safe and efficient performance of all civil works

• Safely carry out maintenance and repair activities as directed by the General Trades Supervisor and adhere to Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures when carrying out all works.

• Using safe systems of work when working with all building fabric access equipment.

• Brushing, spray, or hand-rub finishing ingredients, such as paint, oil, stain, or wax, onto and into wood grain; then apply lacquer or other sealers

• Examining furniture to determine the extent of damage or deterioration, and to decide on the best method for repair or restoration

• Fill and smooth cracks or depressions, remove marks and imperfections, and repair broken parts, using plastic or wood putty, glue, nails, and/or screws.

• Spreading graining ink over metal portions of furniture in order to simulate wood-grain finish.

• Stenciling, gild, emboss, mark, or paint designs or borders to reproduce the original appearance of restored pieces, or to decorate new pieces.

• Conforming to all necessary internal and/or external approvals before, during and after maintenance and repair work including Permit to Work and Lockout / Tag Out procedures.

• Maintaining up to date knowledge through building fabric technical training provided to enhance the skills and quality of finishes required for maintenance and repair duties.

• Ensuring all civil assets and building structure are in good repair and painted to promote the aesthetics of the premises at all times.

• Participating in the Health, Safety & Risk programs including toolbox talks, health safety and environmental training related to work activities especially electrical safety and working at heights.

• Producing and assembled components of articles such as store fixtures, office equipment, cabinets, and high-grade furniture.

• Performing finish carpentry, plumbing and electrical jobs as needed; inspect cabinets before the installation process; trained and supervised carpenter assistants and met with customers at job site to discuss project and estimate costs.
