The Technical Assistant (TA) role is an assistant to area operations management and acts as a resource for all facets of day- to-day operations, while designing systems to build long-term stability and reliability. This role is heavily involved in a broad spectrum of areas such as Operations, Maintenance, Technical, and People, and supports safety, environmental, people, operations, and reliability results for the area.

Develop tools and systems to maintain compliance with all applicable environmental permitting and ensure all environmental compliance systems are reliable and accurate (NCG, air, water, etc.)

Build effective systems and materials such as operating procedures (SOP), troubleshooting documents (TCC), and other training materials

Support engagement processes to ensure the crews have ownership and feel valued within the organization

Coordinate across mill efforts to optimize area production needs of the department and the mill, including process balances as needed (e.g. upset conditions and outages)

Complete technical process evaluations, and improvements by seeking out/ implementing best practices using teams, databases, vendors, and other technical resources

Support the manufacturing work systems (MWS) process to prioritize and plan daily work, routine outages, and annual outages including operational, maintenance, and contractor tasks

Operational support includes reliability efforts, Basic Care, IEPM, and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).

Coordinate outage and other routine work as needed, which may include review of bid proposals and planned spending to ensure maximum value is achieved

Serve as a contractor coordinator

Lead and sustain continual improvement of Manufacturing Excellence culture within the business unit

Drive ongoing improvement efforts in reliability pacesetter elements Implement systems to improve/sustain results, including PI processbook pages, excel spreadsheet tools, Proficy-based centerlining systems, etc.

Support improvements in a healthy and highly functioning basic care process

Participate in cost reduction program idea generation and implementation process Provide support for capital project development and implementation

As a TA, my main responsibility was to engage employees by providing leadership and direction across four shifts of 20-40 employees daily. I was facility point of contact and liaison for the Supply Chain Team to ensure that everything was running smoothly. One of the most critical aspects of my job was maintaining quality control that met or exceeded the customer's expectations. I ensured that we produced and shipped products that were within specifications and damage-free, which helped us maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Ensure proper equipment care and maintenance through the planning and execution of both routine and annual maintenance outages, adhering to MWS processes, and driving the Basic Care and reliability efforts for the department.

Maintain quality that meets or exceeds customer expectations by producing and shipping products that are within specifications and arrive damage-free.

Manage the area staffing, operational performance, equipment reliability, outage execution, and spending to achieve budgets.

Lead and support the shipping department's root cause failure analysis (RCFA) efforts. Champion Manufacturing Excellence principles.

Ensure proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained. Respond to other departmental needs as required
