Jane H Hursh ad1f5g@r.postjobfree.com 407-***-****

Jane Hursh has been the Director of Toolbox4Life Culinary for 12 years, having co-founded the 306 Foundation, a 501(c)3 serving Central Florida, with her husband. With input from community leaders, she designed, implemented, and executed educational programming for men and women, coming out of addiction, incarceration, homelessness, domestic violence, and mental health challenges. The training holistically met students where they were, and provided life and professional skills. She also directed the 40+ volunteer professionals.

Over the course of a decade, Jane created a robust baking business, jane’s short & sweet LLC. She developed all packaging, advertising and marketing, sold the award-winning shortbread (Central Florida Highland Games, Best Bakery/Winter Park Chamber of Commerce) across the greater Orlando area in local coffee shops and gourmet food stores, and delivered products nationwide through her website. Newman’s Own Foundation provided its support to develop her social justice business model. While on staff with Cru International, a world-wide, non-denominational ministry, Jane’s responsibilities grew from initially ghost writing and editing ministry leaders’ books, to scripting videos and developing strategic internal communications for a number of ministry departments. In France, she attended French language school, acclimated to culture, and then joined a small NGO in Geneva. While there, she edited all external communication and worked with the team to establish style standards and tools, for both English and ESOL readers/speakers.

Her empathy for expats led Jane to join the newly-designed Cru Staff Care team, focused on proactively advocating for US staff living overseas. She was responsible for the Americans living and working out of the Eastern European office in Budapest. This role required building trust with 100+ staff members and representing them at headquarters in Orlando.

Prior to the move to Orlando, Jane joined the Communications Department at the University of Texas-San Antonio, to teach basic speech communication. As with her grad school experience, it was the freedom to develop curriculum tailored to her students’ capacities (not always English-as-first-language students at UTSA), and the response from the students that has shaped a career-long passion for teaching and coaching. After graduate school, the leap from class instruction to marketing professional services was not a dramatic one. At Spear, Safer, Harmon LLC in Miami, she continued honing others’ speaking and writing skills, as part of the business development model she designed with the partners and associates there. The ROI on her tailored plans for each individual professional varied from 100% (associates’ first client acquisitions) to a six- ten percent increase in revenue among partners. While there, Jane was actively engaged in the community, via involvement with the Miami Chamber of Commerce and the WLRN Board (Miami’s NPR station). Jane’s strong foundation in writing and editing came from early career experiences at WKRC-TV in Cincinnati. The fast-paced, high-pressured environment of the ABC affiliate’s news department demanded fast thinking, error-free, distilled writing. Jane wrote and produced a weekly segment called Thursday’s Child, highlighting stories of children awaiting adoption. As a social entrepreneur, Jane has partnered with the Rollins College Social Entrepreneurial Studies Department, speaking to and coaching classes about the jane’s business model, in collaboration with the Global Links Scholar Initiative. The partnership led to Jane’s visit to Kolkata, India in 2016, to teach business etiquette and baking workshops to students at the University of Calcutta and the JD Birla Institute. This work with young women was recognized by the World Hindu Congress in 2018, where Jane was awarded the ISOL Award for cross-cultural endeavors.

Jane obtained her BA from Western Kentucky University in Broadcast News, and her MA in Speech Communication from Miami University. She continues to come alongside small businesses with writing, editing and marketing contract work, while continuing to volunteer those same services to a select group of start ups and non-profits. Jane’s spare time is spent developing her photography skills, registering new voters and advocating with LWVOC, Enneagram mentoring and beginning to coach CrossFit as an L1 trainer.
