At Penn Presbyterian as a Central Processing Technician I am responsible for the cleaning preparation of the instrumentation that is used in the operating room. This includes cleaning the equipment, assembling the sets and assuring sterility before delivery which is also done as part of the case cart system.
Accurately identify trays then prepare, inspect and wrap all surgical trays specified to scheduling.
Cleans and processes all equipment, instruments and scopes when received then fill out the appropriate forms for the equipment to distribution center. Prepares, inspects and wraps trays and specialty items for sterilization. Once trays are wrapped, position trays on sterilization carriage for sterilization. Then operate sterilizers ensuring each cycle is correct, complete and verified on a recording chart. When the sterilization cycle is complete unload sterilizers and separate items for various departments. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance on sterilizers, carts and carriages.
