2009-till present. Staff Nurse/Nursing Supervisor/ NP shadowing with Surgery NP: Veteran Administration Medical center, (VAMC) Kansas City, Missouri.

Duties: I started with Kansas City VAMC in May 2009 as a staff nurse in ICU, PCU and Emergency department as critical float nurse and Med Surg ward. I became House supervisor in May 2021. During this period, I took care of patients with various medical conditions and comorbidities. Advanced Practice Care of patients with acute Adult: In my rotation for care of adult patient, I was able with the direction of preceptor to assess, obtain history, diagnose, and treat patients acute, episodic health issues presenting to the clinic such as ear, nose and throat infections. Also able to management of chronic health problems such as patient coming with hypertension and diabetes. Review the patient’s laboratory result and follow up on patient’s laboratory result and provided recommendations based on the results such as medication adjustment based on their renal function. I was able to identify situations requiring referral to specialist such as Gastrointestinal, Cardiology, Dermatology, Orthopedics etc.

Primary Care of Adolescence and Children: In my rotation for care of adolescence and children, I was able with the direction of preceptor to assess, obtained history from parents/guardians, diagnose, and treat acute, episodic health issues presenting to the clinic such as ear, throat infections, skin infections, and education and administration of immunization. Also, able to manage children with chronic health issues such as Asthma. Able to educate parents about the safety of their children. Also review patient’s laboratory result and make recommendations based on the results. I was able to identify situations requiring referral to specialist such as Oncology/Hematology.

Advanced Nursing Primary Reproductive Health: In my rotation for Advanced Nursing Primary Reproductive Health, I was able with the direction of preceptor to assess, obtained history from women, diagnose, and treat acute health issues such as sexually transmitted diseases, contraceptives usage and insertion and removal of intrauterine devices.
