-Responsibilities on a daily basis are to ensure the proper and necessary instrumentation is available, accessible and ready when needed as per surgical basis. Along with additional surgeon case specific supplies and medications for the case with help and coordination of the circulating nurse. Knowledge of anatomy and purpose of instrumentation and anticipation are also needed for the cases as it relates to critical thinking and producing the best surgical outcomes and continuity or care for the patient.

-Operating Room- Neurosurgery –

-Surgical case proficiencies include-

1.Open Laminectomies of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine with screw and rod instrumentation.

2. Minimally Invasive Spine repair and reconstruction surgery. Ex- XLIF(Lateral Interbody Fusion / ALIF (Anterior Lateral Interbody Fusion).

3.Craniectomy/ Craniotomy surgical procedures - Subdural/ Intradural Hematoma removal. Surgical removals of brain tumors, brain biopsy, with stereotactic guidance

4.Surgical clipping of brain aneurysms and arteriovenous malformation clipping and removal as well as STA to MCA brain bypass surgery.

-Responsibilities on a daily basis included ensuring the proper equipment and necessary instrumentation was available, accessible,

and ready when it was needed on a case by case basis. Communicating and utilizing the guidance of company representatives needed for surgical cases preoperatively and intra operatively to assemble and properly use any special instrumentation or implants needed for the case. Along with using any additional surgeon case specific supplies and medications for each case in coordination with the circulating nurse.

-Other Surgical Proficiencies obtained while in the operating room at NSUH are General Surgery surgical procedures- open/minimally invasive – ex- Cholecystectomy, Appendectomy, Myomectomy and other diagnostic surgical procedures. Some Peripheral Vascular experience.(ex. AV fistula, fasciotomy, fempop bypass surgical procedures, angiograms and thrombectomy procedures) . Some Thoracic Experience in Diagnostic VATS procedures. ( Video Assisted Thoroscopy).
