NOTE FOR EMPLOYMENT GAP: Had the immense honor of staying home with my newborn daughter since December 2022. However, now looking to re-enter the workforce in an equally rewarding role. DEREK A. GARDELLA, MBA
Boston, MA ad1a9m@r.postjobfree.com 518-***-**** To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Derek Gardella, and I am currently living in Scituate, MA. My life, like many, has been a series of events that have tested my strength and adaption to new experiences. When I was ten months old, I was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes Mellitus. With a diagnosis so young, it’s difficult to imagine a life without having to focus on my blood glucose levels. However, this focus has shaped who I am and how I value the relationship I have with opportunities presented to me. I am a person who is determined to succeed and eager to learn; someone who is passionate about ensuring others know that disabilities do not define you, but rather shape who you are. I pride myself in the ability to build and foster relationships. I find myself in roles where communicating and educating are standard practices and therefore, it’s something I am consistently working to perfect. Above the duties required of me, I find time to build relationships with those around me. I strongly believe, everyone should feel welcome and the best way to ensure this, is to meet people where they are – understanding them on a personal / semi-personal level allows for success in any line of work.
There is much I take from each role - but what I know to be true in any new position is the value of quickly learning the correct way of completing a task. In this way, understanding the value of time management. From my days as a Division I student-athlete, to various internships, to full time work, to coaching elite youth baseball, to fatherhood – discipline and focus are the hallmarks to successful time management.
I am a graduate from University of Rhode Island (URI) and earned my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. I spent a fifth year at the University to continue my eligibility to play baseball at the collegiate level. However, this year was used both on and off the field. By spending an extra year at URI, I was able to enhance my knowledge by enrolling in additional advanced courses, such as biochemistry and microbiology. My post-baccalaureate life led me into the business sector, in which I pursued an advance degree – earning my MBA in Executive Project Management. I had been working as a financial representative for the last four years and gained invaluable experiences in this role. However, at the end of 2022, my wife and I welcomed a baby girl into our family. At that time, I was humbled and honored to step away from my role as a Financial Advisor to begin a new role as a father and caring for her full time. The last year has been above the most rewarding and challenging in my life. Now, I am at a time where I find myself looking for my next opportunity that shares in similar challenges.
I am sure that I am a perfect match for this opportunity. With my varied background in financial planning, management, customer service, advanced educational experience, internship opportunities, and athletics, I believe I have more than adequate knowledge to succeed in this position.
I am including my resume in a separate attached document. I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss. If you have questions, please contact me by phone at 518-***-**** or by e-mail at ad1a9m@r.postjobfree.com. I appreciate your time in reviewing my application and look forward to hearing from you!
Very Respectfully,
Derek Gardella
