Supplier Quality Engineer
Six Sigma Black Belt / Lean / Critical Thinking Skills / IATF 16949
ASQ Certified / International Manufacturing / Training Specialist / Management Author
Quality Specialist for Industry Leaders: I have been fortunate to have worked for some prestigious manufacturing firms including Newport News Shipbuilding, Robert Bosch Corporation, TRW and Honeywell where my contributions saved millions of dollars and were recognized by awards.
Certifications: ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer, Quality Engineer, Quality Manager, Quality Auditor, Six Sigma Black Belt, Former ISO 9000 Lead Assessor, College Teaching Certification
Entrepreneurial Experience / Management Consulting: With a strong interest in China and the growth possibilities here, I started a management consulting office in Dongguan focused on quality and supply-related services: Plant Manager at Martin Sprocket and Gear (Shanghai). Other clients included General Motors in Thailand and China, Robert Bosch Corporation, Libbey Glass, Airbus, and numerous others--provided training, supplier quality engineering, satellite purchasing office.
Economic Focus on Productivity: My objective has been efficient use of resources, thus reducing many types of waste. Having a full set of modern quality tools, and education in economics, quantitative analysis and machining allows me to improve productivity without sacrificing quality. Some examples are models for determining the correct number of employees to meet customer demand, or the optimum sampling plan to minimize total cost. I have written numerous articles and conference presentations.
Teaching / Training / Mentoring: An individual contributor a person is limited by physical presence. To make a superior and longer lasting impact, concepts and knowledge must be shared. With this aim, I have been a part-time professor at five colleges in the US, and provided internal training for my employers, from executives to machine operators. As a manager this means developing the staff, promoting the company mission and values, providing opportunity to learn and advance careers.
Education: MSBA, St. Francis College, BS, Trine University. Additional graduate studies in Economics and International Business at University of Tennessee and Old Dominion University,
SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS AND SKILLS

Integrated automated process control to reduce scrap by 80%: At TRW Safety systems, using statistical rules through a programmable logic controller, reduced scrap from 85% .
Documented procedures to achieve customer and ISO 9000 registration: Written quality manuals for 10 companies as an employee or consultant. Not only manufacturers but also university program and consulting service company, including IATF 16949.
Skills: Exceptional critical thinking ability (analysis and synthesis), Able to prioritize projects to achieve results, Hands-on approach to directing projects and employees, Chinese speaker.
