Research interest

Recent changes in global environment in parallel with rapid increase in human population, created a problem of food insecurity. Furthermore, the adverse environmental conditions, including drought and salinity not only negatively affected the crop yield but also its seed/fruit nutritional quality that created a problem of malnutrition. Normally the seed/fruit nutritional quality depends upon the proper fruit development. So, efforts have been made and further are in progress to enhance the crop yield and its quality under adverse environmental conditions especially drought, through different means including selection, breeding, genetic engineering as well as exogenous use of organic and inorganic chemicals through different modes. Breeding for better yield with improved nutritional quality is the one such mechanism under changing environmental scenarios. In this regard some successful efforts have found fruitful. So, in future further studies are in consideration to find out the different ways as well as molecular aspects of such changes that contribute to the improvement of nutritional quality during seed/fruit development under stress. M.Phil. Thesis

“Effect of foliar application of fungal extracts on biochemical attributes of wheat under drought stress. Under the supervision of Dr. Zulqarnain Haider, Assistant professor in department of Botany, Government College University Faisalabad. Ph.D. Thesis
