Labor and delivery PCA
● Very first PCA in L&D. I work 3, 12 hour shifts. I assist nurses, midwives and doctors in the care of patients. I have learned so much in L&D and apply my knowledge as necessary. I chart on pt care. I can do foleys, and IV’s yet not allowed by hospital procedure requirements. I assist in the OR so that nurses may chart and do counts. I work in our triage setting up pts on toco and fetal link. I am quick to respond to our staff alerts and run pts to the ER when necessary. Transport pts, labs, and EKG’s, to name a few of my duties on this unit. Due to budget cuts, all PCA’s have been cut in this unit. I have floated in maternity, PEDS med surg and NICU.
