Detailed Duties:
●Provide nursing care to surgical patients, completing pre-op and post-operative procedures.Circulate and scrub on all the surgeries and procedures in the Operating Room in different services- Vascular,Ortho, GYN, and other General services, especially Trauma. Meet the physician needs of the patient by proper positioning of the patient and proper connection of drainage tubings such as NGT, and urinary catheter.
●Actively participates in the orientation of new personnel in the unit.
●Establish an excellent patient relationship, promote patient education and collaborate with other nurses and doctors in the enhancement of patient recovery.
●Coordinate with other hospital units e.g. Recovery Room, Intensive Care Units, and other nursing units on patient's progress and any special equipment of supplies needed for a patient entering the Operating Room. Requisition of blood and medicines not immediately available and alerts personnel involved in specific units (x-ray, ECG, and pulmonary). Make sure all equipments needed in the surgeries are in good working condition and have been checked by Biomed.
●Consult with Operating Surgeons and establish the priority of care for each patient entering the operating room.Responds to surgical emergencies such as cardiac, pulmonary or respiratory failure, hemorrhage and traumas.
●Working as an operative nurse. Able to Interprets nursing philosophy, goals, policies and procedures governing patient care, security, safety, medications, treatments and other elements of the unit operation to employees, patients or others.by providing prompt quality patient care and service to a variety of patients both inside and outside of the surgical field, as a scrub nurse and circulating nurse respectively. Circulate and scrub on all the surgeries and procedures in the Operating Room in different services - Vascular, GYN, Ortho, Neuro, and other general surgery services especially Trauma.
●In addition to preparing all necessary equipment needed for the cases,also provide acute care to all patients undergoing surgical procedure.
●Establishes priority for patient care, prepares and revises patient care schedules and observes for disruptions in the even flow of patients through the unit deciding and initiating corrective action as necessary. Assume responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care, delegation and coordination of nursing care, and utilization of the nursing process as part of an interdisciplinary team.
●Communicates and collaborates effectively as a member of the healthcare team, participates with patient case conferences, staff development and education programs to increase professional experience.
●Good Patient advocate and remain to be courteous and respectful to all patients and their families and coworkers.
