Currently employed as the Director of Nurses for an 114 bed skilled nursing facility. Responsible for managing all aspects of clinical staff including an Assistant DNS, unit managers, registered nurses, medication assistants, and nursing assistants.

Accomplishments include:

Within 45 days of assuming the position, played an integral role in clearing 11 pre-existing clinical survey tags, including numerous “F” tags.

Within 5 months eliminated 7 traveling RN positions and 6 agency LNA positions, saving the National Healthcare significant payroll.

Successfully completed NH State Survey, resulting minimal deficiencies. State surveyors commented on facility improvements in clinical, medication errors

(none), resident satisfaction and employee morale since previous survey (which had taken place prior to my arrival).

Instituted and maintained Antibiotic Stewardship program.

Collaborated with Wentworth Douglass Hospital to reduce re-hospitalizations and increase admissions from WDH.

Implemented a gradual dose reduction program which resulted in an 80% reduction in anti-psychotropic medications within 6 months.

Implemented Point, Click, Care (PCC) facility-wide within 2 months of hiring. Within 6 months, Point of Care was implemented.

Introduced multiple initiatives to include: a restorative nursing program, dietary/weight loss/pressure area monitoring, a fall committee, and antibiotic stewardship.

Successfully completed first Maine State Survey, which resulted in only one deficiency.

Initiated and instructed staff eduction in a variety of areas to include: monthly dementia and infection control training, skills fairs, medication reconciliation, and Maine Health Heart Failure Protocol.

RN Weekend Baylor Nurse ● 2007 – 2010. Worked as a RN in the Skilled Nursing Unit and acted as the covering supervisor for the facility. Gained experience in administering wound vacs, cad pumps, and peripheral and mid-line IVs as well as caring for the death and dying.
