A Lover’s Quarrel—My Memoirs. (in process, seeking a publisher). Based on 51 volumes of my journal, my spiritual journey.

The Prize-winning Story, Root-Source Press, Hebron, Israel, 2021. A group of American pilgrims visit the Holy Land and compete with each other in telling their stories, in hopes of winning a free trip to Israel. Based on interviews with fifteen American Christian pilgrims to Israel.

Both My Sons, Masthof Press, Morgantown, PA, 2016. Greenywalt, an immigrant father in colonial Pennsylvania, wants a peaceful life with his two sons, the older illegitimate one whom he loves and the younger legitimate one that he has never understood.

Mennonite Soldier, Herald Press, Scottdale, PA, 1975. Second printing by Masthof Press, 2016. A classic retelling of the Prodigal Son parable, set in World War I America. This book sold approximately 10,000 copies and the University of Missouri uses it as required reading in their American Minorities Literature class.

He Flew Too High, Winepress Publishing, Enumclaw, WA, 2009. One man’s quest to bring a spiritual awakening to a reluctant people and how his efforts led to a church split..

Hope for the Second Generation: How Immigrant Children Can Help Rekindle Christianity in the West, Tenth Power Publishing, 2022.. A collaboration with Dr. Tesfai Zelleke Tesema. A non-fiction book based on Pastor Tesema’s doctoral thesis, telling the story of Tesema’s goal of developing a Christian ministry that meets the needs of Ethiopian immigrant children.

Plays Published and Performed:

Anabaptist! Full-length play based on the German novel, Mein Recht. Deals with the struggle of a vengeance-driven man in the 16th Century and his contact with peace-loving Anabaptists. Dutch Family Festival, Lancaster, Pa. Summer 1977. Approximately 15 productions.

Joseph, Put That Gun Down! Full-length play based on the massacre of the Hostetler Family in colonial Pennsylvania. Dutch Family Festival, Lancaster, Pa. Summer 1976. Approximately 15 productions.

Awards:

Atlantic Monthly, Certificate of Merit for short story, The Long Haired One.

Schowalter Foundation. Financial award of $10K toward research and writing of Both My Sons.
