Architected a new core network utilizing Cisco Nexus 7706 in a collapsed Core/Distribution solution with Nexus 2348/2232 FEX platforms. This design worked along with our new NetApp storage solution platform.

Directly responsible for design, support, optimization of global voice/data/wireless network. This includes mentoring junior engineers as well as Level 1 and 2 support teams. Recommend and manage testing/evaluation of new technologies; such as Next-generation/applications-based firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto), WAN acceleration using Riverbed appliances.

Planned, designed, and implemented redundant Internet endpoints using carrier diversity and Global Load-balancing with F5 load-balancers.

Built radius server using Cisco ACS 5.6 software and utilizing downloadable ACLs for VPN access to specific environments within the Intelligrated network.

Lead Network Engineer

Responsibilities –

Lead and delegate roles and responsibilities for projects and daily work of five network engineers, 2 VoIP, 3 Data-centric personnel. Provided all design, support, and day-to-day operations of hospital-wide voice/data network0/4500 L2/3 platforms and 3800/2900 router platforms; utilizing VSS in the Core-Distribution-WAN layers. Led design and implementation of Nexus 7k core data center switching platform along with Cisco ASR router integration into the main campus/remote data center topology.

Designed voice/data/wireless network for new $15M Joint-Spine tower; creating a new distribution layer with cisco 6807 L3 switches using VSS technology.

Architected and led major Cisco IOS upgrade for all 4507 L3 switches.

Designed and built hospital firewall solutions; using Cisco ASA 55xx platforms.

Worked alongside with CIO and IT Director, architecting major Nortel-to-Cisco Hospital-Grade Network migration.

Overhauled and redesigned the hospital’s data center; including all power distribution and UPS placement. This included environmental controls. As not to be dependent on the hospital’s own power/UPS.

Within the Product Network, I worked on the team that designed a remote access platform that included xDSL, cable modem, VPN with IPSec.

Managed a project to design and implement a working model of the company’s Product Network in the lab for testing various applications as well as products before they went to the Certification and Production environments. This included connections into the Legacy network running x.25 through Escon directors and IBM S390, zOS Mainframe boxes and doing Protocol Translation to TCP/IP. Also included, were managing all resources and deliverables. These resources were high-level network, software, applications, and security engineers.
