Research Participated in an IRB-approved research project as the capstone to the Master of Science degree in Public Health from Cleveland State University. In collaboration with Dr. Amy Lee, the project observed and evaluated the health behaviors of a small Sri Lankan population; identified eating habits and mental health trends that were negatively impacting the community as a whole.
Currently participating in research under Dr. Jennifer McDonough, at Kent State University, to develop and test biomaterial scaffolding. This scaffolding is designed to provide a biocompatible environment, upon which cells, that are essential for the upkeep of the peripheral nervous system, may thrive. This ongoing research had been presented at the AMLCI (Advanced Materials and Liquid Crystal Institute) Materials Symposium.
Healthcare Experience
St. Bonaventure NDURE Chapter 2015 – 2016
Collaborated with peers to establish the first NDURE chapter at St. Bonaventure with the goal of raising awareness and funding for infectious diseases affecting African countries under Dr. Salvador Tarun.
Supported research efforts into various “neglected” diseases and documented how current scientists study those diseases in the field.
Promoted awareness on how “neglected” diseases affect the body, current treatments mitigate symptoms, and simple and cost-effective preventative measures that could be instituted in impoverished communities domestically and internationally.
Sri-Lankan Red Cross 2013
Leveraged current healthcare insights to edit and revise the sanitation and awareness manual of the Sri-Lankan Red Cross, working collaboratively with management to define guidelines.
Evaluated community activities stated within each section of the manual to ensure compliance with stated objectives as well as established health standards.
