I have had the pleasure of working with Suzanne for over seven years at El Centro Regional Medical Center (ECRMC), where I serve as the ED Medical Director, and she has held prominent roles, including Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) and Chief Nursing Officer.

I worked the most directly with Suzanne in her role as ACNO during the COVID-19 pandemic when we collaborated on coordinating the COVID response at ECRMC. Our hospital, located in Imperial County, witnessed an intense burden of disease from COVID-19. This necessitated a drastic increase in inpatient capacity, at times nearly doubling our normal inpatient census. The Intensive Care Unit, which typically handles 5-6 patients, soared to more than 30 intubated patients at one point. Meeting this increased demand while ensuring the highest standards of patient care required detailed planning, relentless effort, and seamless coordination, particularly between our physicians and nursing staff.

Throughout this incredibly challenging period, Suzanne was closely involved in all aspects of our response, demonstrating leadership and critical decision-making skills. Her extensive experience as a nurse and a nurse administrator combined with her dedication were vital assets in navigating these unprecedented circumstances. Her consistent collaboration and effective communication ensured our team's efficient function, which significantly contributed to the resilience of ECRMC during this health crisis.
