Years ago we took a youth group to the midnight viewing of the full moon at White Sands National Park. A little before midnight we saw an incredibly bright star slightly above the dunes in the distance. One of the older teens and I started out over the dunes, up and down and up and down heading toward the light. We ran for at least 15 minutes, probably close to a couple of miles. I was covered in sweat and just about spent. The teen, Willie, was in much better shape and we kept going. We went to the top of the last dune and the bright light at least 100 feet up on a tower was shining down on an old Sherman Tank (an Army Tank like WWII). We ran onto the Hollywood set of the movie “Tank Girl.” The movie staff was having a hard time getting the tank to start up. So they let us walk around the set until they got the tank started. The bright light was used to simulate Sunshine (daylight) for the cameras. This allowed them to shoot day time scenes at night when it was cooler to work.
