Wolfram syndrome or DIDMOAD is an inherited degenerative neuroendocrine disorder, characterized by the association of diabetes insipidus, youth-onset diabetes mellitus, optic atrophy, sensorineural deafness, and other disorders. Two brothers with this syndrome attended at the Algeria-Cuba Friendship Ophthalmological Hospital, in El Oued, Algeria, in August 2015. An observational, descriptive study was conducted at the Ophthalmological Hospital, El Oued, Algeria, from August 2014 to July 2015 with the objective of clinically and epidemiologically characterizing the appearance of pterygium. The study universe consisted of 700 patients treated in the cornea service. The following variables were analyzed: age, sex, location, degree of pterygium, and risk occupation. The highest frequency of patients between 20 and 29 years old (38.5%), male (59.3%), and at-risk occupation (82.0%) was found. Cases with grade II pterygium predominated and nasal localization was the most found.

A longitudinal, descriptive and retrospective study was conducted at the "Algeria-Cuba Friendship" Ophthalmological Hospital, Oued, Algeria, in the period from June 2015 to May 2017, with the aim of characterizing the surgical behavior in patients with strabismus treated at said hospital. The universe consisted of 80 patients who underwent surgery, coinciding with the sample. The variables studied were: age, sex, preparatory diagnosis, prismatic diopters preoparatorias, surgical procedure, operated eye and ocular transoperative complications.Of the 139 surgeries performed, females predominated. The 38.8 % of the cases presented acquired comitant spoiling. The most performed surgical procedure was the recession of both horizontal recti, predominating bilateral surgery over unilateral.
