Project Manager, Smithfield Foods (Contract) October 2022 – April 2023

Directed two projects simultaneously as part of an initiative to integrate data and procedures from subsidiaries.

Managed a corporate data analytics team as we developed a unified data model that incorporated six independent data models from multiple subsidiary companies.

Quickly learned complex procedures on the job that were used by the data analysis team in order to create a project plan accurate to team needs. Adopted an agile management style, organizing the software development life cycle of all six data models into sprint-based schedule.

Built and executed the project plan which delivered all complete integrated data models on schedule. Held daily standup meetings and maintained a project tracker to provide visual progress reporting to stakeholders. Performed critical analysis of all change requests and maintained documentation of dynamically evolving plan.

Led biweekly project update meetings and presented project progress to senior management. Outside of these meetings, established structures to seek constant feedback from team members and managers in order to further understand an unfamiliar industry area.

Directed a thorough review process of 500+ SOP documents and establishment of an indexed document library on Smithfield intranet, with the aim of increasing team efficiency of routine work and future onboarding.

Worked with team to develop understanding of requirements and restrictions for intranet document repository, specifically sensitive pricing data that required security measures for access.

Experienced an initial setback early on, where a supervisor informed the team that the project was of low priority vs other work. Despite this, worked with each individual team member to establish a personal relationship, determine individual bandwidth, and develop a customized schedule of workload.

Liaison to industry leading insurance firms including: Prudential, Pacific Life, and Lincoln Financial Group, delivering large and highly customized SAAS products.

Interviewed end users and met with clients to document new features for development and implementation. Also responsible for issue tracking. Functioned as an intermediary to business product owners, technical/development owners, and PMO. Used Jira and Confluence for tracking of issues and documentation, and maintained constant channels for Voice of Customer feedback. Specific examples include:

Pacific Life – Oversaw design and configuration of several new system features, such as reports and client correspondences. Owner of every step of each process, including writing of system design documentation and client roadmaps, design of test scenarios and scripts, and acting as client contact.

Prudential – Working closely with development team on buildout of a customizable “query builder” add-on, allowing client users to construct queries and build their own scheduled reports without directly using SQL.

Lincoln Financial Group – responsible for internal systems testing and later became point person for User Acceptance Testing for implementation of a new rollout of insurance options. Network Engineering, IT Infrastructure – Quest Diagnostics March 2020 – May 2021

Performed a full ground-up network infrastructure build in new Quest Diagnostics laboratory in Clifton, NJ. Obtained extensive hands-on experience in every step of network buildout – overview of facility network design, week-by-week scheduled installation of networking equipment across seven IDF areas, establishment of network connections for all devices onsite, and ongoing network infrastructure / IT maintenance responsibility.

Coordinated efforts between network engineers, equipment vendors, and systems engineers throughout the complex installation of all machinery on a state-of-the-art automated medical sample testing floor. Took lead to help direct Field IT team to work autonomously and develop daily, weekly, monthly schedules for the process.

Took on responsibility for many day-to-day operations from site IT lead, e.g. system security monitoring, writing SOP/documentation for future hires, and handling misc. technical troubleshooting for onsite personnel as priority when necessary.

Since completing my degree, I have made it a goal of mine to grow my skills in software development in my own time. I’m currently working through Odin Project, a well-regarded open-source curriculum for front-end web development, as well as a course on advanced database design (SQL-based) from Udacity. I’m a proud Eagle Scout and Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow. I credit my scouting career with teaching me invaluable lessons about proactive preparation, cultivating a strong team culture, and the value of leading by doing.
