Occupational Therapy Assistant

10 years as a nurse’s aide with Senior Corp from November 22, 2008-October 6th, 2018. My job was to

assist clients with their daily activities. I also had the opportunity to help clients with medication planning and instrumental activities of daily living such as driving them to grocery shopping and doctor’s appointments. Administered care to elderly patients in a long-term care facility. Duties included bathing, feeding, grooming, dressing and elimination. Greeted patients, served meals, cleaned rooms and ensured positively living experiences for long-term care residents.

Level 1A field work at Bon Secours Mary View Behavioral Health for worked 40 hours from June 2018-July 2018.

At this site I observed various interventions and had chances to lead and participate in crafts. I was able to identify symptoms and behavioral problems displayed by patients. I acquired knowledge in the psychosocial setting and various ways to address these problems using therapeutic use of self.

Level 1B field work Riverside at Warwick Forest for 40 hours from September 2018- September 2018. At this site, at the skilled nursing facility, I had the opportunity to treat patients doing hands on treatment plans by focusing on client's ’s goals and coming up with activities such as the arm bike for upper body strengthening. I had the chance to apply theories and techniques such as prep methods, purposeful and occupational based activities to address client’s goals. I worked with patients with back surgery, total hip replacement following precautions and ADLs. I saw treatments for edema, advocacy, collaborating, therapeutic use of self, addressing psychosocial needs and co-treatments. At my level 1B field work at Chesapeake Health and Rehab (MFA), I had the opportunity to treat patients who appeared with stroke, general weakness to build endurance and strength, total hip replacement, back surgery, Dementia, Myasthenia Gravis.

Worked with Steadman Media Group as a customer service representative from 2003 to 2004

Where I was in charge of calling customers to book meetings and update on check collection’s.
