EXPERIENCE

Varsity Tutors Online Platform September 2016 - Present

Engineering Math Tutor San Bernadino, CA

> Tutored students part-time in mathematics subjects ranging from high school algebra to college calculus and SAT math concepts, using both online and onsite analytical tools.

> Improved overall test scores and class grades through structured study plans, targeted problem sets, simulated practice exams, and weekly progress reports for each client.

Advanced Botanical Consulting & Testing, Inc. February 2015 - June 2015

Laboratory Technician Tustin, CA

> Measured sample impurity levels in pharmaceutical products for QC testing, using biochemistry experiments like PCR, ELISA, and membrane electrophoresis for validation.

> Executed all company SOPs before deadlines, provided document records of test results in laboratory notebook from GDP/GLP guidelines, and trained new personnel.

Jung Virology Lab; USC Keck School of Medicine July 2014 - December 2014

Research Intern Los Angeles, CA

> Constructed plasmid vectors containing the KSHV herpesvirus genome under safety conditions, then verified DNA recombination with lab sequencing and virtual cloning software.

> Transfected mammalian cell lines to incorporate engineered plasmids, maintained lab equipment inventory, and used fluorescence microscopy to identify cells that expressed targeted genes.

Morikis Bioengineering Lab; UC Riverside September 2012 - April 2014

Research Assistant Riverside, CA

> Managed computational data for multiple protein systems, generated research figures by applying program script operations, and reviewed manuscripts for journal publication.

> Developed insights into the electrostatic association of virus protein complexes, using Brownian Dynamics to correlate computational and experimental rates in research investigations.

> Attended weekly lab presentations in order to improve teamwork and communication skills.

PROJECTS

* Diffusion Modeling Project (2016): Implemented COMSOL to set up a 2D microneedle channel designed to transport particles from a device reservoir. Simulated the diffusion of particles by adjusting flow parameters over a defined time period. MATLAB scripts were then used to conduct finite element analysis.

* Medical Device Project (2015): Proposed a platform delivery device to treat pancreatic cancer by designing a titanium drug reservoir fabricated through machine assembly and lithography. MEMS anchored microneedles would then administer nanoparticle drugs from the reservoir into the pancreatic tissue.

* Biomolecular Modeling Project (2013): Applied 3D software Chimera to study the electrostatic binding of CD46 with Ad11 and Ad21 knob proteins in the complement system. Free energy calculations and Brownian dynamics simulations were used to verify how charged mutations affected association.

* Engineering Courses: Advanced Mathematics, Statics, Dynamics, Continuum Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Mechanics of Materials, Linear Circuits, Instrumentation, Material Science, Medical Diagnostics, Biomedical Microdevices, Finite Element Methods.

* Publication: Chen CZ, Gorham RD Jr., Gaieb Z, Morikis D (2015). Electrostatic Interactions between Complement Regulator CD46 and Adenovirus Ad11/Ad21 Fiber Protein Knob. Molecular Biology International.
