Director, Alternative Sentencing Program

Developed, implemented and coordinated the Alternative Sentencing Program. The program, contracted through the Department of Juvenile Justice System, screened first- time male juvenile offenders for program placement in lieu of traditional judicial punishment. Responsible for maintaining the multi-agency agreement with The Department of Juvenile Justice, Marion County Schools, Marion County Judicial System, The State’s Attorney Office, Marion County Sheriff Department, Ocala Police Department and the Centers. As Director, was responsible for assigning each child through intake process to Case Managers for successful program completion .As Director, the program had an 88.8% success rate of placing youth back into the community as productive citizens and giving parents the necessary resources in dealing with delinquent behavior.

Marion Regional Juvenile Detention Center Youth Leader Ocala, FL September, 1983 – November, 1993

Reduced overcrowding in the juvenile detention center by placing juvenile offenders back into the community; served as an active liaison between the detention center, schools, courts, families, social services, foster care and the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services.
