Quality Lab Technician [June 2006 – April 2007]
Kraft Foods – Knudsen
Visalia, CA
I was part of the Quality Team at Kraft-Knudsen of Visalia. As a part of that team, it was my responsibility to assure the quality of our products through chemical and microbiological testing. The products produced at our plant were cottage cheese, sour cream, dried milk products, and butter. I interacted with all parts of the factory from the shipping department, milk receiver, production staff, to the truck drivers that deliver and pick up loads from the plant. I work independently with little supervision being the sole person working in the lab during the graveyard shift for more than half my time there. I trained my shift partner on the specific duties of the graveyard shift. I did occasionally work the other shifts as fill-ins when needed. I had a perfect attendance record. The job ended due to the sale of the Visalia Plant and I did not make the cut for the limited employee space at the Tulare Plant, where most of the senior employees were hired at after the plant closure.

Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician seasonal [1994-1997]
Nestle Research and Development
Hanford, CA
This was a project from the Nestlé’s Research and Development Department from New Milford, CT. They sent researcher to the Contadina Plant in Hanford, California. The laboratory technicians were hired locally on a full time seasonal basis. During first tomato season, a lab technician team of six people analyzed the incoming raw product and the finished product from the factory. During the second season, they built a full pilot plant of the production plant in an isolated part of the factory. Here the tried new tomato varieties and production processes. They mainly produced tomato paste. During the last three years, I work as a team of approximately twelve laboratory technicians. We were responsible for the quality assurance testing of the pilot plant. This entailed testing at critical spots of the production process, finished product testing, and any special testing the researchers required.
