CURRICULUM VITAE

Brief Bios

Dr Ravi Dadlani graduated (M.B.,B.S) from M.S.Ramaiah medical college, Bangalore, India in 1998. During his undergraduate years he was deeply interested in neurosciences and spent his evenings in the epilepsy research laboratory working on a rat model for a type of reflex epilepsy. He was involved in two DST (Department of Science and Technology projects, Govt. of India) during this period and had has first paper published in 1998.

He later trained in neurosurgery from Manipal Institute for Neurological Disorders (MIND) in 2005. MIND was the first premium hospital in South India providing state of the art care in neurological sciences. During his neurosurgery training he presented papers at several national conferences and got awarded two best paper awards.

After graduating as a neurosurgeon he worked as a junior consultant in St.Philomena’s hospital in Bangalore and later joined Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS). SSSIHMS is a state of the art 333 bed hospital catering only to the specialities of Cardiac and Neurosciences. It delivers cutting edge medical care completely free of cost, as a result there are thousands of patients undergoing surgery every year. This hospital offered him the distinct advantage of being exposed to the entire spectrum of neurosurgical procedures. His duties at SSSIHMS included running an O.R independently, training of neurosurgical residents, registrars and staff nurses. He also was intimately involved in the telemedicine centre which acted as a remote clinic for post-operative care. During his stay at SSSIHMS he operated over 1800 patients independently and had over 30 publications in peer reviewed international journals. He also had the rare distinction of having an image from his article appear on the cover of the very prestigious JNS-pediatrics, in 2013.

He has been an appraiser for the National Board of Examinations (DNB) for two consecutive years.

He concluded an advanced training in surgical neuro-oncology and has acquired a Master’s in Advanced Surgery, from Macquarie Neurosurgery, a division of Australian School of Advanced Medicine (ASAM), affiliated to the very prestigious Macquarie University Hospital (which is accredited by the Royal College of Australasian Surgeons). His training included surgical and laboratory based work. Surgically he was exposed to complex endoscopic skull base techniques under the guidance of Prof Richard Harvey and Dr Andrew Davidson. His laboratory exposure included cell culture work in an ongoing project of melanoma metastases to the brain.

On returning from his fellowship he helped setup the neurosurgical department at Sunshine super speciality institute, Madhapur, Hyderabad, which was a premium private tertiary care centre.

He is currently working as a consultant neurosurgeon and head of department at the prestigious Apollo speciality hospital at Nellore, India.

He has recently had his 43rd paper accepted in an indexed journal.

He has also been invited to be a co-guide for Neurosurgery PhD students for Texila American Univeristy.
