Seasoned architect with a passion for great design. Aspires to leverage experience in architecture, planning, and interior design with holistic, marketable design solutions that are inspiring and sensitive to the environment and the community, with a collaborative design through construction approach to effectively manage cost for owners.

“Every project has an authentic story of its own and as architects it is up to us to uncover that which belongs and is unique in order to enrich the experience and the environment.”

I graduated from the University of Oregon with a 5-year bachelor degree in architecture. I have been part of the architectural community in Hawaii since the building industry boom of the late 80’s and have practiced with some of the very best firms in Hawaii. One of the early significant influences was at Ossipoff’s firm where I learned to appreciate his deliberate sensitivity to environment. Use of regional materials and craftsmanship, indoor outdoor living, building orientation that took advantage of what each site had to offer. I worked at Wimberly Allison Tong and Goo, Hemmeter development, and Projects International which brought Hawaii's resort architecture to the forefront in the world.

In 1996, I received an MBA degree from University of Hawaii with a focus in real estate development. I became drawn to design strategies driven by a vision and awareness towards preserving a strong sense of community, preserving environmental quality for people, preserving precious mauka-makai vistas, encouraging open space and landscape design in high density urban areas, and green sustainable approaches to architecture and development. I joined the firm of Architects Hawaii as a senior design architect, and worked on numerous large scale and complex built projects. I was able to expand my core strengths and foundation in a very broad and diverse range of project types ranging from hospitality, high-rise/mix-use residential, court house, schools, medical facilities, federal, government and institutional buildings.

Encouraged by the ‘Green Building movement’, I became LEED certified in 2009. I continue to practice architecture with the 'Green' design at heart, knowing that it has the promise of environmental, economic and social benefits that impact all building stakeholders, including owners, developers, builders and the general public at large. I was appointed to the Hawaii State Environmental Council in 2012 until 2015, where I co-chaired the annual report committee.

Currently I provide a diverse range of architectural and interior services to architectural firms and owners, varying in size and complexity: pre-design, master planning and feasibility; creation of architectural concept and strategic vision for project development; programming and conceptualization of projects; design development, contract documentation; permitting; project management and construction administration; interior work space planning, materials and finishes.

Credentials and a chronological experience description are as follows: AZITA P QUON

Architect, AIA, MBA, LEED AP BD+C
