Created a new enterprise test project in ODM and implemented required business rules in rules engine.
Configured RESTful API service and integrated with IBM Integration Bus (IIB).
Created prototype for proof of concept for the customer to be evaluated for production implementation.
Created complete architecture and functional document for customer review.
Senior Infrastructure Analyst (Cloud and Open source) Jan 2015-Aug 2016
Created MySQL databases in SEC Lab and published a comparison report of three major databases in the market. This helped in selecting the best product for Marriott’s on premise and cloud solutions.
Provided support to MySQL database by working closely with service provider DBA team.
Provided requirement analysis for Couchbase Database buckets and memory requirements for Couchbase servers for cloud initiative.
Performed complete analysis of each bucket and Couchbase cluster and recommended appropriate memory settings in achieve best performance.
Implemented N1QL for Couchbase SQL query feature after analyzing the requirements.
Performed evaluation of PostgreSQL for SQL compatible open source databases.
Worked closely with Enterprise DB vendor for PostgreSQL for support contract and completed the process of obtaining support for PostgreSQL.
Implemented High Availability clustering (HA) using Red Hat Cluster Suite (open source) for High Availability for PostgreSQL.
Initially implemented Active / passive clustering on shared storage for at least two servers (One active and at least one passive node) for applications which did not support sharding.
For applications, which supported sharding, an eight-node cluster was setup with support from vendor.
Tested Master/Standby replication using write-ahead log (WAL) from master to standby. Implemented the solution for an application with one Master and one standby.
Worked with Infrastructure Delivery Hardware team members in setting up a performance testing environment in IBM Softlayer Cloud for an application.
Created templates for different databases as per requirement from Cloud service providers to facilitate easy provisioning of databases for developers.
As part of the PaaS team, worked closely with Cloud service provider for installation, configuration and migration to cloud for new projects which required database expertise.
Senior Infrastructure Analyst (Data Management) June 2014-Jan 2015
As Infrastructure analyst in RUN organization, performed complete audit of all database software and provided recommendations for saving license cost by consolidation.
Worked closely with Service Provider organization in transitioning support at their offshore facility. Conducted Knowledge Transfer sessions and Tabletop sessions in India with Service provider Xerox which helped the transition to be successful in a short time.
Conducted weekly meetings with service providers to analyze incidents and problems of the past week and activities for the following week.
Worked with Infrastructure hardware team in successfully implementing server virtualization which significantly reduced license and support cost through virtualization and consolidation.
Worked with Application RUN Service Providers in resolving performance issues with a mission critical pricing application. Provided an alternate approach in refreshing their lower environment data by using EMC symmetrix replication which saved more than 24 hours of DBA time.
Worked closely with other service providers and application support organizations in saving more than 200 TB of space for a critical database which helped saving more than $100000 for the application in annual savings.
Worked closely with Oracle, Microsoft and IBM license management groups every year to ensure full compliance and license coverage for databases.
Tested oracle multi-tier database technology in the lab across two node RAC cluster and implemented the solution in test environment.
Technical Consultant April 2005-June 2014
Managed technical task assignments for a team of 8 DBAs including assigning and tracking work schedules, follow-up of task progress and successful customer requirement tracking.
Innovated a new method for applying Quarterly Oracle Security Patches which reduced the time for each patch from 4 hours outage to 15 minutes outage.
Gained an in-depth knowledge of the RAC architecture and Database administration with practical tasks related to application fail over, the use of flashback to recover from human errors, backups and restores using oracle secure backups, new levels of security, load balancing, usage of diagnostic tools such as AWR and ADDM to resolve potential database problems and Loading and unloading of data using the data-pump.
Single handedly migrated more than 15 MS SQL Server databases with over 2 terra bytes of data for Gaylord Hotels merger with Marriott and successfully went live under Marriott’s management on the scheduled date.
Performed various duties such as, Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Relational Database Design, Data model Reverse Engineering, Data Administration, meta-data standardization, database administration, Databases creation, Space extensions, capacity planning, database performance monitoring, tuning, optimization and indexing.
As a team lead, created work plans, monitored multiple projects and delivered them in time. Maintained team schedule meticulously so that all the DBAs in the team provide best support.
