EVENTS AND PROJECTS COORDINATOR, BASKETBALL ALBERTA, EDMONTON, AB 2016-PRESENT
Responsibilities include planning and organizing events that we host as well as collaborating with different bodies to organize national and international events. Some events include: Youth Provincials tournament, multiple 3 on 3 tournaments, National Championships, and international tournaments featuring the Canadian Women’s National Team. Some responsibilities related to the planning of these events, include communications and maintaining relationships with other organizing bodies and volunteers, coordinating coaches and registrations, and forming new partnerships in communities that we do not have as strong of a presence.
Assist the growth and organization of basketball to all areas of Alberta through community interaction and the encouragement of coach development.
Collaboration with organizations such as Tangerine Bank, and the Dairy Farmers of Canada to provide events and opportunities for them to be seen in the community. Organized the basketball aspect of each of these events.
Provided coaching expertise and leadership to developmental programs, inner city programs and Provincial Team Programs.
Conducted extensive research pertaining to the sanctioning and insurance matters of club basketball in the province. Through this opportunity, also gained experience in writing policy and regulations for the club team sanctioning process. The vision of this organization is to provide opportunities for youth in my hometown an affordable, introductory option to basketball in the hopes of fostering a life-long passion for the sport. The organization has grown to include training of athletes of all ages and skill levels, but the original vision still remains.
Responsibilities included developing the marketing and advertising items used to promote the camps to schools in the community, as well as budgeting, maintaining financial records, finding sponsorships for the camp, hiring and managing a staff of 4-6 coaches, and networking with teachers and administrators in the city to build relationships. Assisted in the planning and execution of the Canadian Women’s National Basketball Championship.
Coordinated the the Dairy Farmers of Canada Basketball Clinic held in conjunction with the 2015 FIBA Americas Tournament. Recruited athlete participants, coordinated coaches, and also created Lauren Taal

Assisted the club office with various administrative tasks such as coordinating holiday camps, payroll, and coordinating the annual ‘Pink Out’ Breast Cancer weekend fundraiser. This event included multiple basketball games, a silent auction, and a social, with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA). The efforts in 2014, allowed the organization to raise more that
$21,000 in one weekend.
